A sigh of relief can only describe her mood right now. She was relaxing by the pool. Lounging on one of those reclining chairs. The sun was shining directly on her, and she hoped she could get a little tan. She could get use to this life, sitting by the pool everyday, sipping something Jonathan told her to try. She was 90% sure it was poison, though it tasted sweet. On the right of her was Clary, with her curly red hair tied into a messy bun and wear a green baiting suit which matched her eyes. On the left with was Jonathan, resting in the umbrellas shade, so he could protect his paper white skin from getting burnt. To be honest, it would be kind of funny to see him as a tomato. Jocelyn and Luke were discussing something while sitting across a table. She hasn't seen Jace anywhere, which was suspicious.
"We should probably get to know each other, since you're my brother's girlfriend and all" Clary said as she slide up her glasses and placed them on her head, like a hair band.
"You should probably get you know your brother before that" Jonathan was the master of sly comments.
Just when Clary was about ask her a question, her phone buzzed. She looked at her phone and wore the most annoyed look on her face. "Mom, why are you sending me emojis for no apparent reason? Your doing nothing but making them uncool"
"Uncool?" Her mom said, slightly offended. "My generation was the first to use these things, they have just evolved"
"Hieroglyphics and emojis are not the same thing, mother" Jonathan, the master of sly comments strikes again. Jocelyn didn't find it amusing but Luke sure did.
"Rona, what—" before Clary could finish her sentence, a water ballon came flying at her. It hit her right in the face and drenched her curly red hair. Then everything slowed down.
Rona looked straight ahead, there was Jace holding another water ballon in his hand. He was staring at Rona, with a devilish smile. It only took a simple swing of the arm and the water ballon came flying at Rona. In fear of a flying object coming at her, she shut her eyes and covered her head. It felt like she was in gym class again.
It had been few seconds and she still wasn't hit by a water balloon. She would know if she was hit by one, because they hurt. Hoping that the water ballon burst mid way, she opened her eyes. When she opened her eyes, it was a scene to be seen. Jonathan was lying still on the ground. There was a spot on his gray t-shirt that had turned a little dark, and wet?
"You took a water balloon for me?" Rona said as she knelt beside him.
"I know how much time you spent on your makeup, since I had to wait for you" it seemed like his shirt was leaking blood from his bullet wound, but it wasn't, it was just water from the ballon.
"You took a water ballon for me" she repeated herself
"Listen, I don't have much time" he said pretending that any minute he will die from the injury.
"Stay with me, I am not losing you again" Rona played along
"Listen, Clary has a shrine dedicated to One Direction, continue to make fun of her for me"
"No, don't talk like that, Jonathan. Stay with me" she tried to encase him in her arms.
"Good bye Rons" was the last thing he said before he closed his eyes and went limp in her arms.
"Noooooooo!" She cursed while throwing her head up at the clouds, and balling her hands into a fist.
"Jonathan get off the dirty ground. That's a new shirt" it was his mother, simply bored by everything that was happening.
"Let them have a little fun" Luke chimed in chuckling
"I agree with mom, your being a little over dramatic" Clary was obviously always against her brother.
"I am a Drama Queen and I am damn proud!" He got up from the ground and pulled Rona up with him.
As soon as Rona turned around she got whacked in the face by a water ballon.
"I had more than 2 water balloons, you know" it was none other than Jace.
*******************************************
Luke and Jocelyn had gone off somewhere. They said they were going to ordering pizza but ordering pizza does not take an hour. Since Rona had gotten wet anyway, thanks to Jace, she might as well take a dip in the pool. This felt more like a summer vacation than spring break. Just as she was about to get up, a pair of strong hands pulled her back. She looked up to see Jonathan smiling at her, rubbing sunscreen in her shoulders. Okay, that is weird.
"What the hell are you doing?" She slapped his hands away,
"Protecting you from the sun" he said. He was singling something with his eyes. Maybe he was trying to tell her that people are watching them so please don't screw it up for him.
"I am trying to get tan, you nerd" she said not caring about who could be watching them.
He bend down and angrily whispered in her ear. "Why can't you be nice to me once in a while? We have to look like a real couple, so just smile and act like you are enjoying this"
"How am I supposed enjoy you lathering me up like a chicken before the big fry!"
"I will give you 20 bucks"
"Make it 30 and you got a deal" she smirked
"Fine!" He said reluctantly
"Oh the sun! It's beaming down on my soft porcelain skin! Thank goodness my boyfriend is lathering me up with sunscreen!" She melodramatically spoke, and made everyone pay attention.
"Ow! That hurts!" She hissed as she felt his boney hands push on her back.
"That was the point" his tone was bored, "Take it down a notch there, Prima Donna"
"I suddenly have this urge to apply sunscreen to your neck" she hissed, not from the pain this time.
"Is everything fine here?" Jace asked, I guess he could sense the disagreement between the two. Though he was always attracted to conflict.
"Yeah, Jonathan was telling me how he wanted to go for a swim" Rona answered.
They all walked over the the pool. The wind was lifting Jonathan's white hair so that you could see his exposed forehead. This was the prime opportunity to take revenge on him for painfully messaging her back. She walked behind himself slowly and then pushed him into the water.
Few seconds after the water bubbled and he emerged, breaking the surface tension, and splashing everything within a small radius.
"Ha! Ha! Very funny" he seemed unamused. "Pull me up" he offered his hand to Rona.
When she took his hand into hers, with a sly grin Jonathan pulled her into the water. And she fell right on top of him. This was the part where everything slowed down again. Their hair defeating gravity, mixing together in the water. She could see his eyes in such detail. They sparkled like how the moon sparkles on a river in the night time. She could see the oxygen leaving them slowly as they sank. She could feel his hands wrapped around her waist as they sank. Everything went soundless as they sank. She couldn't hear Jace tell jokes or Clary giggling. She couldn't hear Luke and Jocelyn bickering in the background. It was just him and her, and what felt like an endless sea. It was just his hands on her bare waist, right before the line of the bottom of her
swimsuit started; and hers on his bare chest. They were lost somewhere in the blue hue. If only they could stay there forever, but they couldn't and rose back to the surface."Great! We are both wet now!" She complained, she was also blushing a little.
"I don't know about you, but some do say I am dripping with beauty"
