Few more days, Rona thought, just few more days and then it's spring break. Rona had no idea what she will do during spring break. Maybe she will catch up with all the shows she missed, or hang out with Simon and Maia, or go to the mall. But the truth was that everything will be impossible to do because her teachers will assign her huge projects, leaving her to have no fun. Today was another sweaty day of high school. Not sweaty literally, it could be freezing and it would still be a sweaty day. Because school was the definition of Hell and there is no cold in Hell. Thus, everyday is a sweaty day. And after that long sweaty day of school, she wanted to go up stairs and bury herself in music. No one was ever home so she could pretty much do whatever she wanted. She stood there outside her house in the Upper East. Outside her crammed little house because Morgensterns had the privilege of having a balcony. Not just a balcony but a balcony that was to the side, which was very uncommon. She searched through her bag to find her keys, but her bag was covered in gum wrappers and various other trash. She heard Jonathan's car skid into a parking position outside his house. He is such a careless driver, Rona looked him leave his car, he could someday get hurt. Of course if he did get hurt he would have no one to take care of him. His father is six feet under the ground because he was a alcoholic that died of a failed liver. He refused to ask his mother for help, since he hated her. He really didn't have any friends, and the people he talks to are really stupid. Which leaves Rona, his neighbor née friend. She would see him from her window struggling to do something really simple. He would look back at her and she would roll her eyes and run over to help him. She would put their differences aside and help him. They used to be friends once, not anymore, but once and that was enough for her to run over and save him. Rona hadn't noticed but she was staring at him, but he noticed and so he came over to her front door where she was standing. Seeing that he was making his way to her she quickly rummaged through her purse. She didn't want to talk to him right now, or ever.

"Like what you see, Rons" he smirked

"It's Rona, and I don't know what you mean" she refused to look at him and continued to search her purse.

"I saw you staring at me"

"If by staring you mean seriously disgusted by your leather jacket? Then yeah. I wonder how many unfortunate cows died just so a ignorant asshole can look more like an asshole"

"A cow would ever be so lucky to be wrapped around a piece of this. Besides it's faux, I care about animals and shit"

"Animals and shit? Wow! A true animal activist" she rolled her eyes

"It's always a pleasure talking to you"

"Wish I could say the same" her fingers finally felt the cool touch of her keys. "Yes! Found it!"

"Au revoir" he walked backwards to his house, without looking away from Rona. "I should've taken AP French"

AP French! Never mention AP French in front of Rona. It reminds her how she was forcefully put into Woodshop.

They both parted and entered their quite homes. So quiet that you could hear a pin drop. They both were alike, Jonathan and Rona. They both lived in a empty house. His was empty—no mother, no father, no sister. Hers was empty—her mom doesn't talk, her dad doesn't talk, she doesn't talk. Empty. They both were empty.

It had been an hour or two and she heard her mom enter the house with her heels clicking and laughing on the phone.

"Mom?" She made sure that it was her mother. No response came and so she was sure that it was her mother. Her mother never responded. She was a busy woman, you can't blame her. She headed downstairs and saw her mom place Chinese takeout on the kitchen counter. "Mom, you got the one with meat in it"
