I decided to do a little change. Most of this chapter is going to be in Ink's or Sans' perspective.
Ink's p.o.v
It didn't take long until I arrived in the dark AU. Most everything else was bright and in control, but the Reapers' domain was a bit chaotic. I'm sure if this Sans didn't have his brother the heavens would be out of control by now.
It's hard when an AU gets out of control, like what's happening to the original. I have to find the source and fix it. If I dont, I'll have to do a forced reset. It breaks my heart every time, I've lost track of how many times it has happened. Most are caused by Error. Which is why I was surprised to find a disturbance of Reaper!Tale in the original.
I finally sensed where Sans was hiding, Life's Sanctuary. This wasn't supposed happen, him and Life becoming friends, but I let it slide after I found out they seemed to calm each other through their duties. I immediately teleported just outside and I could here them laughing and telling jokes. Life was the only one who could make him happy, so it was nice to see him with emotion. Once I stepped inside, they stiffened and everything became tense. Yep, guilty.
I continued walking towards them, and I could here Toriel urgently asking Sans if he had told anyone of their position. He replied quickly he hadn't. My essence I guess was foreign enough for Life to not know who I was. I teleported in to the clearing with a smirk on my face and Toriel immediately calmed. Sans, however, didn't seem to calm, he looked even more tense.
"Ink, dear, you need to come more often. I'm afraid I haven't quite grown used to your aura yet," she laughs lightly.
"I'm sorry Toriel, but you know, duty calls,"I replied and she nodded in agreement. "But, sadly I'm not here on a friendly visit. I was wondering if you could tell me what your latest projects were."
"Of course, I love showing my children to others." Sans stiffened even more behind her. He asked her to do this, I was sure. Now, I just needed to find out who he did it for.
She brought up a portal and showed me each and everyone, all newborns. Sans grew more and more afraid. I wouldnt do anything serious to him besides a stern talking to, since he is immortal. Toriel hesitated before the next one. Sans forced himself to relax as they appeared.
Y/N
How did I not see it? They was right there in front of me, LITERALLY! If my jaw could drop, it would have. "You didn't make a mistake, right? This is an adult." I probably looked as if I was ready to rant when Sans finally spoke.
"It's my fault, like people would say it was," he said with guilt.
"But, I don't understand. Death, of all gods, wanted someone alive. What even caused you to think this?" I realized what I had said and stopped myself from continuing. "My apologies, we may be friends but I should still treat you with respect."
Toriel sighed, "I'm sorry we didn't tell you. We should have asked what you thought about it first."
"I, should have asked you first. I asked Toriel to create the body for her," he corrected.
"Wait, just the body? You mean with no soul?" My eyes widened. "Toriel, you must get started on a soul for them as soon as you can while I find a way to keep her living. If I remember right, they didn't have much determination to begin with."
Sudden realisation struck both of them. I wanted to face palm so bad but now was not the time. Toriel went straight to work while I moved to Sans. "And you get back to work instead of swooning over some human."
He blushed grey and teleported out of the room. Toriel took her time to speak up as I opened a portal back up, "Please find something soon, I don't want to lose another child before its their time." I nodded with a confident smile and jumped through the portal
Sans P.O.V.
I knocked softly on the Y/N door and set down Papyrus' spaghetti. There was a shuffle behind the door and I turned to walk back down the stairs. Usually they waited until I had left, but she didn't.
"Sans." I turned back around quite surprised. Finally want to talk to me? "Who is Ink?" Right.
"Creater and protector of the AUs," I answered quickly answered. I expected the conversation to be over as quickly as it started and went over to the stairs. They swiftly picked up the plate and followed me down the stairs.
"Who's Error?" They asked. Where are they getting these questions.
"An error happened in his universe and killed off everyone besides him. He doesn't like how everyone else can enjoy the happiness he lost," I have shorter answers than I probably could have. Papyrus greeted me as I sat down at my plate at the table but he smiled even wider when he saw Y/N behind me.
"You know Ink came, didn't you?" I stiffened.
I sighed, " I asked him too, he didn't know what for until he sensed it here." My appetite went full and I began to swirl the spaghetti with my fork.
They frowned and finished eating their spaghetti. Papyrus was confused about the conversation all together. He most likely assumed Ink was just a friend I met at Grillby's.
Grillby's. Gosh, its been so long since I last was there. That used to be my go to answer when somebody asked a question I didn't want to answer. Heh, I still haven't paid my tab off yet. My tab.
"When will Ink do to me when he realizes?" That's what got Papyrus really confused.
"WHAT DOES INK WANT TO DO WI---"
"I have to go, sorry Papyrus." I put the form down and teleported near the bar. As usual, the golden lights reflected off the puddles in the roads. I walked up to the door and pushed it open. Several monsters and humans turned to the door with their eyes wide, a few gasps mingled in between them.
I saw Zoe glaring at me from a stool at the end of the bar. The best choice I could have made was staying home, the second best choice was sitting at the stool on the other side of the counter. Grillby walked over to me like he would any customer but pulled out a ketchup bottle.
I laid out a couple dollers on the counter. "Only half please." He gave me a questioning stare but pulled out a glass and put some of the ketchup inside. The bar was still quiet. I glanced back around the room, each person still staring at me. He have gave me the glass and I laid down a twenty. "Can you get a milkshake for brother too? Put the rest on my tab."
He nodded and went into the kitchen. I drank the rest of the ketchup and straightened up on my stool, my eyes closed as I breathed deeply and I cleared my mind. They continued to stare and I chuckled lightly, "Maybe you should take a picture, it'll last longer." My laugh was weak and dry. They turned away and tried to pay attention to their friends.
Grillby came back into the room and handed me the milk shake. "Thank you Grillby. Do me a favor and take a chance with Zoe. It's pretty obvious." I slid the empty glass to him and stood up from my stool before he could react. It took me fairly quickly to cross the floor but it felt like an eternity as the gaze of others returned.
I wasn't ready to return back home yet and sat down at a bench in a nearby park. This was the park that I used to take Frisk to when Toriel was busy. Both them and Papyrus loved this place, sometimes I'd by them nice cream.
Too bad Y/N can't smile like they did.
So much for goals... Its been 8 days now? But, hey, it's done... *cries pathetically in the corner.* ~Willow
