I smiled when Y/N disappeared behind the door. She had smiled. A genuine smile. It reminded me of the battle in the alley. Only a few minutes ago my mind had strayed to strange places. I had asked to see that smile so badly. But now, I wish I could have seen more.

I teleported down into the lab and grabbed the journal from a locked drawer.  My father had written one himself but that was lost in time with him. Sometimes I am glad he was gone. Other times, not as much. Now, it was my turn. With a new project to work on, writing would be a lot easier.

A breeze drifted into the basement from the open door, lifting the tarp a bit on the machine. Horrible memories filled into my mind. I saw him. The machine cracking with the dangerous light of the void. He wanted time travel. This blinded him of the dangers of a paradox. One wrong move and suddenly you don't exist. I couldn't let him do that. To any of us, even if it meant losing any chance of getting out of the Underground.

I almost fell but caught myself on the counter as the memory dissipated. I noticed the blue glow shine on the floor. The wind began to pick up. Something was wrong. We pretty much never had wind in the Underground. I was about to go see what was wrong when crinkling from the tarp shouted in my ears. My body turned swiftly around to see the machine uncovered. Normally this would bother me much, but the machine was fixed and working. I hadn't touched the thing since I had put the tarp on it in the first place.

My finger began pressing buttons on the keyboard. I had to turn this off, I was not ready to have another explosion of be forgotten. The more code I punched in the faster it processed it's own information. I stopped touching the computer. It should have exploded by now. I should be forgotten along with the rest of the team. It continued to work....perfectly.

Just for curiosity, I checked the files to see if it still had the time periods. But something had replaced them and it took me a second to recognise it.

I was in shock. Only 2 can travel between the AUs: Ink and Error. This should be completely impossible. I grabbed the notebook and began to write:

'Project Souls
--/--/201-

We had another Reset. I believe we're at 36, maybe more. What was different this time was that it wasn't Frisk, it was Y/N. Before she lost her soul she must have had lots of determination. I can't say for sure but it seems like a liable explanation.

The machine changed. It functions properly now. But it doesn't do time, I think we can travel between the AUs now. Let's just hope nothing can get here from there.'

I finished writing quickly still excited from the new discovery. As much as I wanted to explore every single one, I was afraid, Y/N asked about them before. What if she was from another one of them? Come to think of it, I haven't seen her in any of the other resets and Frisk doesn't seem like she has either. I looked around the room to see if I could use anything to start. Not much here besides some old tools that looked ready to break if someone to simply breath on it.

My mind came to a conclusion. I have to send Frisk and Y/N to finish the storyline in the Underground. The problem is, Frisk lost most of her loading and saving capabilities on the Surface. I might not be able to continue my studies there. Alphys drifted into mind. No, she would just become curious about what I was doing and I gave up being Royal Scientist long ago. She had no need to know what I was doing now.  But maybe, returning might just be what I need.

I grabbed my jacket once more and ran up the stairs and out the back of the house. After closing the door, I teleported just outside of the castle entrance. Is this what I wanted? Do I really want to return to that? My team is gone and now I also have two humans and my brother to take care or. On the upside, it would be nice to have those extra gold I made at the hotdog stand.

The door suddenly opened and the king appeared. I instantly dropped in a bow of respect, my old habit returning. "Your majesty, I apologize. I rarely come up here anymore."

He laughed, "Sans, come in my friend, no need for such formalities." He led me into his kitchen and we sat at the table. "Would you like some tea?"

"Sorry your Ma- I mean Ashore. I'm afraid my apitite has leaf-ed me." I winked and shrugged my shoulders.

"Same old Sans. Now tell me. How have you been?" He asked.

"Better actually, a lot better," my voice drifted off at the end as a blush covered my cheekbones.

He smirked and raised an eyebrow from across the table. "That good? Please share.

"I-uhh- met a monster the other day....." He smiled even more and urged me to continue. "Ummm, she doesn't usually smile, but when I shared a human holiday with her she did. It was great! It was Beautiful--" I clamped a hand over my mouth realising what I had said.

He laughed, " Sans, don't worry, I won't tell a soul." He cleared his throat. "But I have a feeling you didn't come all this way just to have friendly talk. What do you need, my friend?"

I sat there for a moment, many doubts still flowing through my head. But I had to make up my mind.

"Asgore, I... I think it's time I return to my position."
