Ch. 17

Papyrus' POV
Undyne called me for a emergency cooking lesson. This normally means she weather found a new way to cook spaghetti or something to cook with spaghetti.

I was a little bummed that I wouldn't be able to go do the so called 'Halloween' with my brother, sans, and the two humans. But I swore to Undyne that I will always listen to her every command!! She is the Captain of the Royal Guards after all.

I soon left Snowind and was walking through the hundreds of echo flowers in waterfall. Then a house shaped as fish came into view.

The permanent grin on my face grew knowing I can see my best friend.

As soon as I was in front of her door I knocked loudly. Not 5 seconds later I heard loud stomping coming towards the door that soon flew open.

"HELLO UNDYNE!" I greeted, "WHAT ARE WE COOKING TODAY?"
"Sorry Pap's, but I lied to you. This is actually something very important."
My grin slowly went down, but I quickly picked it back up.
"WELL WHAT'S WRONG UNDYNE?"
"Well, how about you come in and sit down then I'll tell you. This is very serious." She informed me.

I nodded and she let me in. Then I walked over to the table that was in her house and sat down. She was at the other end of the table.

"Papyrus I want you to pay very close attention." She told me.
I nodded obediently.
"Alph-" She began.
"OH ALPHYS! HOW IS SHE DOING? ARE YOU GUYS A COUPLE YET?" I questioned.
Her face turned red, I don't know why.
"UNDYNE YOUR FACE IS RED!" I informed.
"Alphys is doing fine and for the second question, that's classified. Also, I know my face is red. But Papyrus you need to pay attention." She said.
I nodded once again.

"Alphys has spotted two humans on her cameras. They haven't left snowdin yet but are close to the borders. Have you seen these two humans Papyrus?" She said staring at me intensely.
I could feel myself starting to sweat. I didn't want to tell her that the humans were staying at my and my brothers house. But I didn't want to disrespect Undyne.

"NO. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY HUMANS! BUT I WOULD BE DELIGHTED IF I HAD!" I lied.

She nodded.

"Well then papyrus, ready for your first mission?"

I couldn't hold back my grin. My first mission! Oh the adrenalin rush I'm having right now!

"OH, YES! YES! YES! I'M VERY READY UNDYNE!" I nearly screamed.

She grinned at my enthusiasm.

"Well then, let's go catch ourselves a rab- I mean Human!" She smirked.

I have been at Undyne's house for the whole day preparing to 'find' the humans. We have polished our weapons, practiced our battle stances, cooked spaghetti, went over our fighting techniques, and also went over how to catch the humans.

But, finally after hours of hard work. We were ready.

Before we left, I had to wait a couple minutes so Undyne can get her body armor on.

Unlike me, she doesn't keep it on 24/7.

Then we left.

We we're marching towards Snowind until Undyne had a great idea!

"Hey paps, how about we split up just in case the humans decided to pass Snowind and come into Waterfall?" Undyne suggested.

"THAT SOUNDS LIKE A MARVELOUS IDEA UNDYNE!" I responded.

I continued forward while undyne took a left.

After a little while of walkings I noticed there was a lot of dust.

There was dust on the pedals of the echo flowers, there's dust in the water, there's dust on the grass.

I don't understand why there's so much dust.

But, now as I look around me I see there are no monsters. It's like they all disappeared.

Then with a blink of an eye socket, all the dust is gone. There are monsters all around me smiling happily.

As I continue walking I just brush it off as a hallucination.

After a few more minutes of walking there is no monsters in sight and dust everywhere again!

But, this time it's different. It's a lot colder. I see Undyne's Spears all around.

Then, in the middle of a clearing, I see my red scarf and sans' jacket laying on a pile of dust.

There is a knife on top of our possessions that is covered in a red liquid.

I stopped walking when I noticed the knife was starting to fly up. Then, it stopped.

Suddenly, a bunch of random symbols and numbers started to form and create a shape.

Then, with what looks like Memories, started to go into the shape that the random symbols and numbers were forming.

After about a minute, a human in a yellow and green striped shirt with brown pants appeared.

Their head was down as they clinched the knife in their hand.

"Finally." They whispered, "After all those years, I'm free."

They started laughing. Although I don't get what was so funny.

Their head tilted back as I saw there piercing ruby red eyes.

I noticed there was a black ooze like substance that was coming out their mouth and eyes.

After calming down from their laughter, they noticed I was here.

"Hello Papyrus, I am Chara." They spoke.

Then they disappeared like nothing happened.

When they disappeared all the Dust, red liquids, and Spears disappeared.

I was stunned. I did not understand what was going on.

But I didn't fret.

Shaking off what just happened, that I believed was my imagination, I continue to forward.

Today was a very strange day.

From then on waterfall was very quiet as I near the edge Waterfall.

That was until I heard a quiet, "Psht!".

I turn into the direction of the sound and found a single Golden petaled Flower.

I smiled knowing it was my friend, Flowey.

"Hey friend I noticed you are walking alone. Would you like some company?" They said.
"WHY SURE FLOWEY! YOU MAY JOIN ME!"
"Actually, I was wondering if you want to...see something..."
"WELL OKAY! BUT I CAN'T FOR LONG BECAUSE I'M ON A MISSION!"
"That's nice, come on."
I followed flowey towards a more calm part of waterfall.

I noticed there were no Echo flowers around or monsters for that matter.
It was also getting darker the longer we walked.

"HEY FLOWEY, WHERE ARE WE GOI-"

Suddenly my head hurt very bad as everything turned black.

"Good job Flowey. One down, eight more to go."
