I Time Travel for Love - Epilogue
-Annabel-
It was early morning and the cabin was quiet. It had been eleven months since the fire and time had come for the William's family to go back to their family cabin. Although technically, I was a Williams now. Mike and I had gotten married last month. He was not too happy that we had to postpone the honey moon, but I couldn't miss the cabin trip. I of course, persuaded him with promises of us leaving to our honey moon right after the cabin trip. I was getting tired of Josh and his comments about Mike and I. He would keep cracking jokes about us waiting to make a baby until we got to our honeymoon. I would have smacked him, but Trisha always beat me to it.
I flipped the pancakes and hummed to myself as I continued to cook breakfast with the help of Trisha. She and Josh were now engaged and it made me happy that they were both so deeply in love. I examined the set of pancakes and nodded as they were finished. I gently put them on a plate and started on the last batch of pancakes. Pouring the pancake mix made my stomach grumble. As I was done pouring them on the pancake maker, I felt two strong arms wrap around my waist to rest on my stomach.
"Why don't you just use the Insta-Pancakes?" Mike asked, nuzzling my neck. I giggled and shook my head.
"Because they are better from scratch. I might live in the future, but I'm still from the past." I teased.
"Well, you past-ers sure could cook. Seems like we just got lazier in the future." He said, yawning for good measure.
I smiled and continued cooking the pancakes, leaning back on Mike slightly. It felt nice to be safe in his arms. He had finally stopped fussing about me, nearly a year after the accident. He didn't let me out of his sight for the first month and had hired a nurse to help me for the first three months. I would always send her home early, but tell Mike she had been there all day. I put the rest of the pancakes on the plate and turned the burner off. Turning, I kissed Mike on the cheek and my stomach once again growled.
"You're hungry, Bel." He said, rubbing my stomach gently.
"Just a little." I confirmed with a light blush. I had been hungrier a lot lately.
"Make sure to eat plenty. You know, baby making can be tiring." He winked. I rolled my eyes.
"Ugh. You sound like Josh." I slapped his hand playfully. He let me go and grinned.
Trisha and I carried breakfast to the tables and we both looked at each other, surprised that Josh and Mike had set the table. We set the food down and I hit the small bell in the middle of the table, signaling the food was ready. Nikki wobbled in with her now husband. She was six months pregnant, but because she was so tiny, her belly looked so big. I found myself looking at my stomach and wondering what I would look like pregnant. I shook off the thought and sat on the chair Mike had just sat at.
"Oh you girls went all out. This is lovely, thank you." Mrs. Williams said as she and Mr. Williams walked into the dining room. I smiled.
"No problem." I smiled.
"No big deal. I'm used to cooking for a lot of people." Trisha said, scooping up her five year old son and sitting him down by her. Josh had been chasing him around the house.
My family made me so happy. All of them. I don't know what I would do without them. Since I had learned to travel and control when I left and came back, I was able to visit my mom once a month. Mike would always be so worried when I traveled. He thought that I wouldn't be able to get back to him. I knew I would always come back though. The traveling always left me tired and disoriented, but it was only normal.
After everyone was done cleaning and we had come to the conclusion that the boys would have to wash the dishes, I went out to the front porch. It was a beautiful summer day. The sun was out, but it wasn't too hot. The light sun dress I wore was perfect for the weather. I stepped off the porch and began to walk to the swing I had swung on since I first traveled to the future.
I approached the swing and sat on it, swinging slightly and closing my eyes. These past couple of months had gone by so fast. Mike had been there for me the whole time and I tried to be there for him as well. I heard of Ricardo's death a couple of days after I was released from the hospital. I cried for a whole day and Mike simply held me in his arms, strong as ever. I had just met him, but he was such an amazing person that his loss had hurt. Mike had known him for many years and yet he held so strong.
The Moonbel was recovered after it was almost stolen. He spent a lot of time in it. He said it reminded him of Ricardo and that helped him mourn. We visited Ricardo's wife, Lizet, often. She was hanging in there as well. When I asked her how she was able to be so strong, she looked at me and smiled. "I'll see him again. Besides, he wouldn't want me to be depressed. He was such a happy man." She had said.
I heard someone approach me and I didn't open my eyes until they were near. I smiled sweetly at Mike. Every time I saw him, my heart would still skip a beat. My love for him was just as strong as ever. He smiled back at me and went to stand behind me, pushing the swing lightly.
"I remember pushing you on this swing when you came to visit us. I think you were thirteen." He paused.
"You said that you really did feel like a pixie because it felt like you were flying." He said, stopping the swing gently.
"I remember that. I had to beg you to push me because you were in that phase where you didn't want to play with a girl." I teased lightly.
"Oh, you wouldn't have to beg me for long. I would have done anything for you. I still will." He told me as I felt him kiss my cheek.
"And I just wanted to be with you. I always will." I said, turning slightly and pecking his lips.
My life had been forever changed from the moment I first time traveled to now. I would have never guessed I would have been here. I always saw my time traveling as a curse. Now that I knew how to control it, traveling was a blessing. Although I wasn't from this time. I felt like there was no other time in the universe I would rather be. I was meant to be here, with my husband, with my family. They were literally, my future.
