Chapter 13

It’s already 11:45am. Paikot-ikot sya sa loob ng rest room tapos titingin sa salamin sabay buntong hininga. Tapos kapag may maririning syang foot step papalapit ay dali-dali syang papasok sa cubicle. Ganito sya for almost half an hour na.  Iniiwasan nya si Migs at hindi pa rin buo ang desisyon nya. Major part of her says no but there is also a part that says she should give it a try. Hindi dahil sa gusto nya si Migs pero dahil at stake na dito ang future nya. At least yun yung gusto nyang ipasok sa isip nya na dahilan.

Kanina itinext sya ni Migs. Sabi lang “12nn. Sharp.”

Hay! Bwisit ka talagang lalaki ka.

After 10 minutes napagpasyahan nyang lumabas na at naplanong uuwi na lang sya ng maaga. Magdadahilan na lang sya. Sasabihing medyo di maganda ang pakiramdam at gagawin na lang sa bahay ang trabaho. Tama! Bahala kang Migs ka!

Papunta sya sa kanyang mini-office para kunin na ang gamit ng makita sa pinto ang secretary ni Migs.

“Hi Miss Monica, hmmm…ipinabibigay po ni sir tong envelope. Importanteng papers daw po yan so check nyo daw po kagad then give him a call or punta daw po kayo sa office nya once you absorbed all the info.” Ngumiti ito sa kanya. “Actually po medyo kanina pa ako dito e pabalik-balik pero wala po kayo sa office nyo at sa work room, e sabi ni boss urgent daw to kaya wag ako babalik hanggat di ko nabibigay.”

“Ay sorry naman…naabala ka pa. Medyo di kasi maganda yung pakiramdam ko kaya kanina pa ako sa rest room. Sige,  salamat dito.”

“No problem po. Ok ka lang po ba?”

“Yup, pero pauwi na din ako. Sa bahay ko na lang gagawin yung work.”

“Ah, better po yun. Siguro nastress ka nun mga last few days dahil dun sa event. Paano, alis na po ako...rest well po.”

“Ok, thanks ulet.”

Umalis na ito. Nacurious sya sa laman ng brown envelope. Binuksan nya ito. Naglalaman ito ng mga documents regarding Singapore project-mga target clients, kung magakano ang funds, at higit sa lahat kung magkano ang possible na income ng company at ng mga taong involve specially the designer once they hit their target client and market. Nakakasilaw na halaga! Plus, She’ll be staying in Singapore for 2 weeks for the events siyempre all expenses paid by the company at ang pinakaexciting sa lahat if they got the Paris client, the designer will be going to Paris for 3 months training in a fashion design institution with certificate. Tapos automatically, she’ll be collaborating with a French designers. Holy Shit! OMG! This is really unbelievable.

Pakiramdam nya ay tinotorture sya sa mga oras na yun. Dream or pride? What will she choose? Or better yet which is the right choice.

Nagvibrate cellphone nya. She received a text from Migs.

Have you seen it? I hope you’ll really consider everything. Anyway, change of plan. I’ll be waiting for you at Aubergine later at 6pm instead. I hope I’ve given you enough time. Go home and rest. I heard you’re not feeling OK. Don’t stress yourself thinking. Just think what’s right for you.  

Bwisit! Don’t stress yourself. Gago! You’re the one stressing me.

Another text.

And don’t be late. I’m not that patient if you did not come 6pm sharp. I think I got your answer. If you’ll come, don’t bring your car.

Hay Migs! What am I gonna do with you?

Halos 20 minutes ng nghihintay si Migs sa restaurant ni anino ni Nica ay di pa nya nakikita. Mukhang di ata sya sisipot.

Grabe! Sobrang mapride yung babaeng yun ah… Ano pa ba ang ayaw nya sa sa offer ko?

Pero sa totoo lang a part of him is hoping for her to decline his offer. Kahit papaano ay nagi-guilty naman siya. Alam nya na deserving si Nica para sa project na yun without a doubt. She’s really good. Hindi naman questionable yun e. Ayaw din naman nyang pilitin ito pero ewan ba nya ito yung feeling nyang last option nya para makuha yung gusto nya. Kailangan nya talaga si Nica.

Pero kung sakali man panindigan ni Nica ang pagdecline sa offer niya. Pababayaan na niya ito.

Change plan na lang.

Five minutes to 7pm, magiisang oras na syang naghihintay. Hindi talaga ito sisipot. He let out a sigh.

Ok, I thought I can easily get her.Time to let her be.

Pero may part of him na nanghihinayang but he can not do anything about it. He gave a tip sa waiter at umalis na sya sa resto.

Papunta sya sa nakaparadang kotse at may babaeng nakasandal doon---si NICA.

Actually, kanina pa si Nica na labas pasok sa resto. Pero di pa rin buo ang isip ni Nica. Hindi nya magawang lumapit kay Migs. Pero sa huli nagpasya syang intayin na lang ito sa labas.

Hindi nya alam kung tama o mali ang gagawin nya. Bahala na si batman.

Nakita nya si Migs na papalapit sa kotse. Kita nya mukha nito na medyo nagulat ng makita sya. Siguro nag-give up na rin ito.

“Hey! You’re here.” Nag-aalangan pero ngumiti si Migs sa kanya.

“Yup.” Maiksing tugon niya.

“So, does this mean you’re in?”

She looked at him intently.

“Hindi ko alam kung tama or hindi yung desisyon ko, gusto ko lang malaman mo na I don’t want to go through all of these things just to get what I want. But it seems like I don’t have a choice.” Nagbuntong-hininga siya. “ I’m not sure what your plans are pero clearly you’re not pursuing me because you like me… 100%. I don’t want to get involve with you but…” She’s teary eyed.

Shit! Naiiyak sya sa stress.

Kinuha ni Migs ang mga kamay niya at marahang pinisil ang mga iyon.

“Sorry…ayokong pilitin ka pero I need you. I can’t be a perfect boyfriend but I can promise you a great partnership. And I promise, once na nakuha ko yung target ko. I will let you go.” Sincere nyang sabi.

“Alam kung ayaw mong sabihin kung ano yung plans mo pero I just need to hear one thing.”

“What is it?”

“Can I give you my trust?”

Sa halip na sumagot. Hinila sya nito papalapit sa kanya at niyakap sya.

She sighed.

“Ok, then I’m in, boyfriend.”

He chuckled.

“Thanks, babe.” She felt him kiss her head.

Ewan nya pero she felt happy at that moment. Pero alam nyang she can’t let her heart out there. That will never happen. It’s more of a partnership…Bahala na!
