The forest was oddly quiet this morning..
Absent of its usual pitter-patter of surviving critters and the whistle of wind between its trees in the upper canopies.

La'ika seemed tense.. On alert for even the slightest sounds, stopping often to check out certain smells and little noises far off.
Even our breathing seemed heavy as she walked me around in the silence and we've both been through extensive stelth training together.

A loud squeal was heard not far off and La'ika took off.
I grasped the handles of my saddle as we sprinted through the trees at full speed, my trusty companion leading way to what could be a good fight to wake us both up a little.

A squeal was heard once again, much closer this time and La'ika jumped straight up in the tall grass for a better vantage point.
We landed in ring next to a very petite girl in dirty clothing, who began screaming at the top of her lungs.

I scanned the circle, seeing a large snake coiling up across the grass.
I jumped off my steed and pulled a sword from its sheath on my saddle. I walked over, waving my foot at the serpant. It got its teeth stuck to my boot, which had a thin layer of steel in it, and I cut it's head off.

The girl was cowering near the edge of the grass as La'ika sat down, assuming her dopey appearance.
I laughed, prying the head off my boot and tossing it across the clearing before sheathing the sword.

"What the fuck are you?" She asked in terror.

See? This is the type of reaction you're supposed to have when a-

"Octavia!" Clarke gasped as she stumbled into the circle with us, immediately running to assist her startled friend. "What are you doing here!?"

"Not rescuing us very well, help?" She asked in a panic.

"O, calm down.. This is a friend of mine. She wants to help us but you can't come here-"

"I was just checking on you.." She mumbled.

"Thank you, but you need to go now.."

"She stays.." I stated in a slightly annoyed tone. "If Heda found out she was here and I let her go she would kill all of you.. She doesn't trust any of you."

"But-"

"Clarke.." I warned, making her bite back whatever it was she wanted to say. "I can bring her back to camp.. Hide her amongst my soldiers.. As long as she listens, no one will know the difference and you can both be safe. No more intruders.. If I have to, I will start killing them myself."

She nodded, fear and understanding showing in her eyes and expression.
She whispered somethings to the sky girl before they approached me again.

"(Y/n) this is Octavia.. She's a good friend of mine. She's from the Ark too, but her story is a little different than mine.." Clarke explained. "O, this is (Y/n). I believe her tribal name is Oun'hura which I know means honor in her people's language.. Her country acts as the leading force in the grounder army, known around the city as the eighth clan."

Octavia seemed to be absorbing all this information, losing tension in her shoulders as Clarke spoke clearly, in a calculated tone.

"Each member of the country has the potential to be a one man army.. And.. Some of them grow up with giant wolves who sort of share the same soul as they do.. Which is hard to explain unless you want to sit through at least multiple decades of information. However.." She paused, taking a deep breath before smiling and motioning toward my companion.

"This is La'ika.. Just think of her as an overgrown puppy, like the ones in your anatomy, biology, and history books. She protects us.." She smiled.
