Soon after the kiss, the episode ended and I went home, my heart soaring. I didn't know what statis the kiss had put me at. Friends? Dating?

I threw my troubles into another essay on my laptop, music playing in my ear. I fell asleep eventually, at around 1am.  When I woke up the next morning, I stayed in bed on my phone for an hour. I looked out my window to see that the lights in Grace's room were off and she was no where to be found.

I stretched and put on some sweatpants. I sat back down at the computer, typing with ease. I couldn't let anything distract me from my work, especially a girl.

"James?" Katie walked into my room, wearing her pajamas.

"Hey Kate." I smiled.

"Can you help me make waffles? I made the mix." She asked, standing in my doorway. I closed my laptop and followed Katie downstairs.

I pored the mix into our new waffle iron, the kind that you flip over while they're cooking. Katie but chocolate chips in each hole, but I simply spread butter and syrup on mine. We turned on the TV and watched while we ate, something we could never do while our parents were home.

"James, I have a question." Katie asked.

"Okay." I sighed. She would always ask the dumbest questions, stuff like "how far away is mars?" or "Can you get eczema from sharing a hairbrush?"

"What did you and Grace do last night?" She grinned.

"Well." My face went red. "We talked, and ate and watched the Office."

"Like we're doing?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Anything else?" She smiled.

"Well." I felt my face heating up. "Nope. Nothing else." I lied.

"Okay." She turned back to the TV for a few minutes. I thought I had escaped the situation..."Do you LOOOVVVVVEEEE her?!" Katie sang loudly, suddenly. I nearly dropped my fork.

I felt my face burn up, "KATIE!"
