The next morning I woke up to the sound of my window shaking, being penetrated by small rocks.
I saw Grace, her hair in a messy bun, her window cracked open, throwing acorns across the gap.
I took a notepad from the foot of my desk and scribbled down a sentence.
I WAS SLEEPING
I held up the picture and she smiled.
Whoops :)
I looked at her writing and responded quickly.
I HAD FUN LAST NIGHT
Would've been funner without the "call"
SORRY
She laughed at my response. She started to write something down.
We should tell our families. I think its more serious now....
HOW ABOUT A DINNER AT MY HOUSE. WE CAN ANNOUNCE IT THEN
Sounds good, I have to get breakfast, bye
BYE
She set down the notepad and left her room. I started to walk downstairs and get breakfast too. My parents would be home at 5 today, I'd propose the dinner then.
I was helping my Mom with dinner when I remembered what I needed to ask.
"I was texting Grace the other day." I said, stirring the spaghetti.
"Really?" My Mom smiled.
"Yeah. I think we should invite them over to dinner sometime. Casual or fancy... or something. Just so you guys can meet their family." I suggested, making it sound casual.
"Hm. We do have a "make your own pizza night" this Friday. Would they be interested?" My Mom asked, taking the meatball sauce off the stove.
"You should ask. I'm sure its hard being new here." I said.
"Alright, I have her mother's number, maybe I'll call tomorrow to ask."
"sounds good."I smiled to myself.
