Alexander Hamilton was sitting in the waiting room of Washington heights hospital, awaiting the news of Eliza, his wife. He was nervously moving his wedding ring around his finger, not knowing if she would be okay. The hospital smelled of hand sanitizer, rubber gloves, and cleanness altogether. Alexander used to love hospitals. When he was a child, his mother and him were brought to one, where he would get free ice-cream and candy all he wanted. But a few weeks after entering the hospital, his mother had died. That's why he mostly hates hospitals now.
Alexander was reading the New York Times as he tried not to worry about his wife. But that all changed when dr. Greene walked out into the very sterile waiting room covered in blood.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Hamilton. Your wife was not able to survive her lung surgery. Her lungs completely failed halfway though the surgery. The time of death was 10:39 a.m." Dr. Greene then quickly left the room, leaving Hamilton to process his words carefully. His wife had died... her lungs failed.. this can't be happening. It's isn't happening. Alexander wouldn't allow himself to let this happen. He was gripping the dark wooden handle of the cushioned chair he was sitting on tightly, his knuckles turning an inhumanly shade of white. His eyes started to water, the tears forming in them reflecting the light of the bright hospital lights. He knew what was going to happen. When he had first met Eliza's father, Phillip Schuyler, he had promised to keep Eliza safe from harms way and to keep her alive till her own days end. And if he failed, Phillip Schuyler would kick him and his future children, which right now at this moment, we're Phillip and Angelica, out of the house that he had helped finance for them. What was going to happen to him and his beautiful children? Were they going to starve to death? Alexander couldn't keep the tears in anymore as he started to sob, running out of the hospital as quickly as he could.

*a few minutes later*

Alexander arrived at his home, hoping that the children had not come home yet. He sighed in relief as he heard nor saw any signs of them. He then quickly grabbed a few suitcases and started stuffing whatever items he needed into them, such as clothes, water, some matches, a few blankets and two jackets. One for Phillip and one for Angelica. He then closed the suitcases, making sure they were shut tight before he slowly walked towards the door. He wasn't looking forwards for what was about to happen, what he was about to do. The sound of gravel crunching under the turning wheels of a large vehicle. The children's bus. He opened the door after putting the suitcases outside and met the children when they stepped off of the steep steps of the mustard yellow bus.
"Daddy what's going on?" Angelica, who was in kindergarten this year, asked him with a confused look on her face.
"Honey.. sweetheart. We have to leave this home, and go to another.." he said with a sad voice, his heart breaking even more than it already had that day when he was at the hospital.
"Why do we have to leave Daddy?" Phillip said this time.
"Because... mommy is dead.."

And here we go! This is the first chapter, and it's surprising that it's only 560 words long, not including this authors note that is. Please leave your feedback if you would like, and stay tuned for the next chapter!
