*Thomas' point of view*

"Is there something you want to tell me..?" Alexander asked quietly, catching Thomas off guard. He then nodded, fiddling with his hands.

"would you... want to go shopping later today? I had told Rae that we were going to go a few days ago, and I thought maybe you could come with your children." He watched Alexander closely, to see what his reaction was. He was nervous, as he didn't know what he would say.

He was then caught off guard when Alexander said "I mean.. I have no money, but sure. We can go."

He smiled wide before saying "I could buy you and your children some new clothes, if you'd like. I have enough money saved up." He was happy, happier than he was earlier that week, when he had promised his daughter that he would go with her. But why was he so happy? Was it because he had an adult friend to go with him? Or was it something more. He couldn't tell as he stood up from his chair, him gently grabbing Alexanders arm. He knew that any rough move to his bandaged arm could hurt him, So he was being very gentle and careful.

"Thomas.. You don't have to do that. I-" Alexander was cut off by a little voice coming from below the both of them.

Phillip stood at their feet, his hands behind his back like he had done something wrong. "Mr. Tall man, Something broke.." Thomas' eyes widened, and he could see the tears beginning to form in the little boy's eyes. "I-I didn't mean to.. I jumped up to try and get away.. a-and It fell from the.. the shelf." He was on the verge of tears.

"No no, Its alright. Its okay. Lets go see if we can fix it okay?" Thomas said very quietly and calming to the little one. He then stood up, having to bend down to grab Phillips arm before he started to lead the way to where the item had been broken.

When they all entered the room, Thomas could see the two girls, Angelica and Rae, circled around a small glass vase that had broken. He didn't realize where the vase had come from until his gaze turned to the shelf. The last present that his mother had given him before he left home for college was the vase that now lay on the ground. He stood frozen there for what seemed like forever, until he felt a small tap on his shoulder. He turned to see Alexander looking at him, having just moved down from standing on his toes to reach him.

Thomas raised an eyebrow before the short male said "Are you alright? You look pale."

He nodded and tried to calm down. He didn't want to yell at Phillip for what had been an accident. He kneeled down and carefully picked up the small pieces of the glass. He then stood and walked into the kitchen, where he set the glass against the table and got out the superglue. Oh how mad his mother would be if she knew her vase had been broken. He started to mend the separate pieces together, his heart being broken. He really missed his mother, but he didn't know how to talk to her. Not since he left for college all of those years ago. He had never told her he was leaving. He left a note and just.. left, like her feelings didn't matter. He took in a deep, shaky breath as his eyes started to water.
Thomas needed to call his mother. He didn't realize the short figure next to him.
"Thomas..? Is everything alright?" Alexander had said, making Thomas turn to look at him. His eyes were like newly cut glass as he tried to keep the tears from falling.
"My... mother gave me this vase right before I left for college.. I didn't even say goodbye. I haven't talked to her since because she didn't want me to go to that college. She thought I could do better." He looked down with shame, almost whispering the last sentence. He then felt a gentle hand touch his shoulder.
"Thomas, if you need to call her, you can. I can make sure the kids don't do anything to worsen the situation." Thomas could see the concern on Alexander's face, and he nodded. He really needed to call her.

Thomas had ended up in his bedroom a few minutes later, his phone in his hand. It was ringing, the ringtone being  one of the more common ones. He hoped his mother answered, unsure of what to say if she did.
The ringing stopped and a female voice sounded through the phone to him.
"Hello..?"
