I usually write between 1,000 words and 2,000 words per chapter. It is my main goal before getting off to a new chapter, and as you can see in my early work leading up to the last work I updated (over a year ago, I am sorry), it causes a huge difference in reading material. Well, I was going to continue writing World After War, but I noticed how many pages I have, how many chapters I had written, and how many words I have written total. 31,664 words total. Well, that kinda disturbed me for 21 chapters over 57 pages of work. I thought hey, I am doing well, since I am getting about 1,507 words per chapter! I decided to look at my favorite book, Easy by Tammara Webber (PLEASE GO READ THIS IS YOU ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL OR JUST STARTING COLLEGE!!! IT IA AMAZING AND WILL CHANGE THE INSIGHT OF YOUR WORLD, EVEN FOR THE BETTER.)
I chose one page of Easy, one that seemed to have the most words (considering a lot of the words in this book is kinda long, I tried my best to have one with as many words, not the longest paragraphs) The page had 294 words. The book is twenty seven chapters along with an epilogue. 310 pages total. That brings the mean of the pages to be about 11 pages per chapter (Chapter Twelve had eight pages, which was the chapter I chose). So, when you do the math, either by multiplying the pages total by the words per one page, or by multiplying words by pages per chapter by all chapters, you get 90,000-92,000 words. ( Specifically: 91,140 and 90,552 words respectively by the two ways I mentioned.
I also asked one of my friends, who has been writing for, he claims, eight years. He said that he has 40 chapters total for his first book, witch each chapter ranging from 1,500 words to 15,000 words. He did not go into the total words the book has except for the symbol of the chapters in each part, but that is because he keeps his writing hidden.
I do plan on doing something with World After War, not just share it on Wattpad, but it made me realize that I need to write more words per chapter if I ever want to have a book big enough to show to a publisher, and not seem to be too hefty for how many chapters there are.
Do not get me started with Nature of the Beast, each chapter changes with a different view of a person, and they are between 1,000 words and 4,000 words, combining a few chapters together. It only has six chapters total with 24 pages, 12,581 words total. This is only going on Wattpad if I finish the plot line.
Anyway, I am going to go type up some more chapters of World After War, maybe rewrite a few things about it, and head off to class. Wish me luck.... because with my writers block, I will need it. love yall!
