Paris was beautiful during anytime of day. The sights were breathtaking and the city itself was full of life. Marinette knew the city had its dark side too. The streets were filled with rumors. And the stars seemed to lure citizens away to show off their beauty.
Still, there was one mystery in Paris's night sky that made her heart race. She watched from her balcony as he lept from the rooftops. He was the color of the sky and his eyes were the brightest stars she had ever seen. It was meaningful how well she could see him in the dark. She knew him well enough to pin point the exact second those green eyes were all that could be seen of her masked love in the dark of the night.
Chat was someone she always overlooked until the recent patrols. He would fidget as if he had this built up stress he couldn't control. The way his lips would smile out of nowhere before he turned away made her heart beat faster. She was already gone, falling in too deep to register the moment the Akuma struck her. All that she could see was his eyes.
The newest Akuma had the power to temporary paralysis its victims and make them see life without what they needed most. Ladybug could feel tears weld up in her eyes as her voice broke each time she called for him. He was gone and she never knew how much she needed him till the moment the trance broke and he was the first thing she had seen. She hugged him as tight as possible, falling to her knees as her tears trailed her face. He was always two steps ahead her. He wrapped his arms around her imedently and lowered as she did.
Cat Noir was hers, he lived to provide her safely to Paris. She still found it hard to leave him, yet her desperate eyes showed it. He was somehow everything she could ever need or want. He was perfect and she loved him. God, she loved him. She wanted to see his smile everyday and never let go of him. He was a work of art made with unbreakable detail at the very seams. He was a poem with every twinkle in his eye. He was a masterpiece that she knew she shouldn't touch, even if he was broken.
She could recall every line to him as if he was a mystery. She couldn't feel alarmed as those eyes belonged to the one she followed for years. A model she had idolized till he was dressed into the night behind that agonizing mask. Marinette was told she would know when she found the only she loved. It was in the way Tikki consoled her after each battle, it was in the way her parents showed their affection towards her. It was in the way he made her feel like she was going insane.
Adrien on the other hand was equally the same. The thought of this boy behind the mask never once crossed her heart. Adrien was too dull. Too dull. It hit her late at night, as she was left with a pounding in her chest. And for the slightest second she swore those green eyes were watching her from the window. Looking into her very soul. His eyes, Chat's eyes, were never too dull.
"Ah, M'Lady, the night is always better with you around." Ladybug resisted herself to look at him. Part of her, the overlooked and unneeded part, belonged to Adrien. And the other part of her, the hero among them all, belonged to the cat sitting beside her. She loved him, she knew him better than anyone else, and all she could see were his eyes, his smile, the way he looked at her, the calming sound of his voice, the freckles along his nose as he would lean close, the picture of beauty before her dressed in a black spandex suit. "Ladybug?" It was enough to break her from the trance as she realized how close they were and the blush that was clearly visible under his mask. It was now it never, and by the way Tikki reasured her countless times, she had to listen to her heart. Without further time to think, she kissed him.
Looking at the situation now, she maybe rushed into things. The familiar sound of his footsteps caught her attention. She turned to come face to face with the vengeful cat in the night. The boy she secretly loved. His detransformation caused her to look away from the bright green light. She couldn't help, but laugh as Adrien settled beside her.
"I had a feeling you were coming by." Marinette glanced up at him, rolling her eyes as he smiled down at her. "I figured you needed someone to talk to." The way he spoke reminded her of times before where a sentence like that would end in a flirtatious wink. "No puns?" She even questioned herself from saying that. Adrien perked up imedently, the image of Chat lacking the mask.
Paris maybe her home and take her breath away, but the boy that loved her miraculously in the day and throughout the night was her newest reason to love Paris. Not even Alya losing it over them dating could make the butterflies in her stomach stop. She looked back up to the sky, meeting his eyes. As she climbed up onto her balcony she smiled, he was the true beauty of Paris.
