Hurriedly, I followed the mysterious blonde down the pathway, a tense silence in the air. Both of us seemed to be waiting for the other to speak, neither of us knowing what to say ourselves.
"We're here." She announced suddenly, breaking the unnerving silence and drawing my attention back to reality.
I looked around and sure enough, we were stood outside of my house. "Wait, how do you know where I live?" I asked, my eyes widening as I realised I had been following her aimlessly the whole way. She could have been a killer... Another one...
She looked like a dear caught in headlights, a beautiful dear that is. Wide eyes, slightly parted red lips and her windswept hair neatly braided made her look like a goddess. A second after that thought passed through my mind a strong shiver racked through my body followed shortly by a small headache.
Ugh. Great. I muttered internally."I- I err, I've seen you around! " She finally exclaimed, a look of triumph in her eyes.
" Oh, right... " I replied warily, not trusting her for a second. The wind blew violently, as if trying to urge me in hurrying up and going inside my nice, warm house. A few leave were swept from the trees and scuttles along the pavement, filling the air with a slight sound.
"You should probably go inside, I'm sure your parents are worried sick." Aphrodite said quietly after a few moments.
"I thought you said we needed to talk, where do I know you from? " I asked, wanting answers suddenly.
She looked panicked before speaking,
" Goodbye child, you shall get your answers soon." A powerful gust of wind blew my hair into my fair without warning, startling me greatly. I raked a hand threw my hair trying to tame it back and clear my vision, however when I did, I was all alone. Aphrodite had gone.
But where, and how?It was fair to say that I was grounded for the remaining three days of my holiday with my dad, he was not impressed by my late night adventures with no explanation. Its not like I really missed out on much really, I never bothered trying to make friends with anyone in this lame place anyway. They're probably all weird bloodsucking vampires or elves n' shit like that. I don't know and I don't honestly care enough to find out.
Oh well, I'm away from that God awful town now at least. I think this place is just about better tha-My hand instinctively shot up, seizing the brown, hardback book on a collision course with my face, from the air. "Seriously Fred? Seriously? Its been what? All of ten minutes we've been back and you're already hurling objects at me?" I exclaimed, leaping from my previously relaxed position on the sofa to stalk up to him.
"AGHH, please don't kill me I'm sorry!" He wailed, making me roll my eyes. Idiot. He acts as if I could ever actually kill. Yep. ' Hey, it's me, Bella, mass murder.'
"Ay, yes, watch me stab ya with my deadly nail file! " I declared with false enthusiasm in my voice.
He huffed quietly, his face red as Jo and Krista snickered at him from their seats on the sofa, where they were putting their shoes on.
" Where ya goin'? "I asked, cooking my head slightly.
" That's what I was trying to tell you! " Fred cried, throwing his arms in the air in defeat.
" What by throwing a book at me? "
"That was a last resort!" he answered instantly.
"Yeah, more like second. " Jo whispered to herself silently.
I smirked inwardly, knowing I was right and had won as I followed my three friends down the endless hallways to the large assembly room. I was surprised to see only my year group, consisting of 150 students present. I had expected the whole school to be here but apparently not. I really want to know what this is about now.
"Hey, Krista, what's this about? " I hissed quietly.
She shrugged in reply, obviously as oblivious as myself and the majority, if not all of the students here. We were all sat on chairs in rows, a small stage like structure at the front with a microphone in a stand upon it for the given teacher to lead the announcements.
The doors swung open a moment later, silencing the few remaining whispers as Mrs Lemmings slowly, yet purposefully made her way to the stage, her heals clicking with every step, forcing all 150 pairs of eyes to follow her every move, even though my own, along with others, we're screaming in protest due to her yet again outrageous outfit. Her dark orange dress looked more Brown that orange, clear signs of stains and burns were covering the front and back of the skirt. On top her was wearing a lime green blazer which could probably make a newborn lamb wish it hadn't been born while the damage was already done to all of the 150 traumatised students present in the room. Our fate was inescapable.
I, along with the majority of those present instantly tuned out. This surely couldn't be of any interest, right?
I was wrong. Little did I know, that that one assembly with Mrs Lemmings and her awful dress sense would be the trigger that caused everything else to begin. The marble had been placed at the top of the run and there was no way to stop it now.
"Children, for all your hard work, you're all going to be staying at a different school for a week, in Texas!"
