"No, no, no! You absolutely should not be able to do that! What is going on here? Who are you? Show your face!" One of the large, threatening male drivers exclaimed, taking a protective stance between me and everyone else.
Like, seriously?
The sound of a door opening and closing once more from behind me drew everyone's attention to the two figures racing across the courtyard at an inhuman speed. I could see a man and a woman, yet that wasn't what interested me, what caught my attention was the hundreds of bite marks littering their skin like medals. Somehow, despite my lack of knowledge of this strange, new supernatural world, I instantly was able to identify them as vampires yet what was even stranger was that along with that piece of information came a bit more. Two names, Peter and Charlotte. Char.
Now, what any sane person in my situation and level of trouble would most likely keep quiet, that's not me and that'd be boring now, wouldn't it?
"Peter? Char?" I asked hesitantly as they stopped a few feet away from me, them facing the rest of my classmates so my back was to the crowd.
A quiet, almost silent snarl rumbled from deep in Peter's chest as he moved ever so slightly in front of Charlotte, protecting her from me... Hasn't this happened before?
"Jeesh, I don't know if we would be honored or worried," I said before I could stop myself.
I seriously need a filter on my mouth, I'm gonna blow our cover at this rate.
"Why would you be either?" Peter growled.
"Well, honored because you think we could harm a vamp, and worried if you think your mate can't take on a few humans"
Shaking my head slightly, I was drawn back to reality a little too late as I became aware of Peter's hand snatching towards my hood, attempting tearing it off my head.
Oh hell no.
Instinctively, I leaped away, a hiss of my own bursting through my lips as I landing on the ground in a pounce.
"No one, an' I mean no one, touches my hood. Do y'all understand?" I hissed venomously, my accent coming out strong, taking everyone by surprise.
"None of us have ever seen Isa without her hood or a hat or something. We've never seen her face, put it that way." Fred defended from behind me, making a small smile spread across my lips.
Peter opened his mouth, looking like he was about to say something however before he could, an earth-shattering, inhume growl pierced through the air, unlike anything I'd ever heard before. it was the sound of nightmares, that chilled you straight to the bone, making mothers hide their children in fear of what was to come.
Yet for some reason, I had an almost irritable urge to go straight to the cause of the sound. To find out what was causing the being such unhelpable anguish.
Jasper.
Wait what whos jasper?
I heard screams from the students around me as Peter and Char's attention was immediately drawn away from me and to Perry, who I was guessing was some sort of witch or sorceress.
"Perry, let them in quickly, I don't know why he's suddenly acting up now but it can't be good," Char said worriedly, a second later, the air shimmered once more before everyone, including myself, was being ushered forwards, without any obstruction from the barrier that had been present seconds before.
We were al lead into the school, a collective sigh of relief leaving everyone's lips as we entered the cooled building, we weren't expecting to be standing in the sun for so long and a few people were definitely feeling the side effects.
"Perry, Jenny, guys, show the students to their rooms, here's the list, we've got a few phone calls to make," Peter said in a hushed voice that only I could hear from where I was stood with my friends, all of whom were giving me slightly worried looks. They wanted answers just as much as I did.
"Well, we will both see you later once you're all settled in for dinner. Dinner's at 8 sharp, that gives you three hours, we will have some entertainment for you after dinner where you can meet the other students who attend here before you get your schedules for the next two weeks. The classes we have here are a bit different to what you have back home, anyway. Bye!" Char called excitedly before rushing out of the room with Peter.
As we were led through the corridors, I couldn't help but get stuck in a constant feeling of deja vu. It was incredibly annoying and was giving me a headache. Why did I have to be feeling this? What on earth was going on? My head was filled with so many questions that I hardly noticed what was going on until we had stopped outside a large room and names were being called.
"You will all be in rooms of ten, I hope you all like bunk beds 'cause that's what ye've got for the next two weeks," Perry said before calling the first ten names on the list, this continued until the third room where I heard my name, Kristas and Jo's being called. Apparently, girls and boys had to room separately. Poor Fred.
I got into the room and quickly called dibs on the top bunk by the window. It had the most beautiful view, I could see a large tree and what appeared to be a horse stable in the distance. I'd have to go and check that out at some point. Krista was on the bunk beneath me and Jo on the top bunk next to me so we could all easily talk. I somehow knew all of the girls in this room, some better than others but I knew all their names and that was something considering I hardly ever bothered talking to anyone outside my immediate circle of friends.
The three hours passed quickly and I soon found myself in a bundle of other students heading towards the dining hall. once we got inside, I was shocked by the sheer size of it, it wasn't an actual building, more of a sort of mess tent with open sides and long wooden tables for sitting, it was lit by lights strung across the top of the tent causing a picturesque scene and a relaxing glow, all in all, it was perfect and I felt strangely at home.
The second we all walked in, it fell silent and everyone's heads turned to stare at us like we were the main attraction at a fairground. I saw a few of them discreetly sniff the air before their heads turned to look at me and they gave each other discrete glances.
ughh, what now?
I saw one or two people look over to Peter and Char, who urgently shook their heads no, causing everyone to look down, seemingly disappointed.
"Everyone! Dinner is served!" Peter and Char exclaimed simultaneously before food appeared on the table, seemingly from nowhere, causing a round of gasps from everyone at my school and chatter to erupt from everyone else as they instantly dug into the copious amounts of food on every table.
Everyone who was still standing quickly found a seat and began eating, the food was amazing, meat, vegetables, bread, pasta, chocolate, cake, you name it, it was there. By the end of the night, I had never been as full as I was then. I must have easily put on ten pounds in that one meal at least.
Just as I was about to finish, I felt a foreign hand on my shoulder; my head whipper around to mean the gaze of a boy seemingly my age with jet-black hair and sea-green eyes, stood next to a girl with grey eyes and long, blonde hair.
"Bella?" They asked, shock evident in their voices.
I felt bad for how infrequently I'm updating this book so decided on a double update :) I'm going to be trying to update more frequently now I promiseeee
