Forever and always

I looked at my reflection in the mirror, searching for any imperfection I could correct. My hair was braided in a side braid on the left which lead into a messy bun resting low on the right of my head; small white flowers were placed in the bun as my vail flowed elegantly from beneath.

I had done my makeup naturally with highlights of gold on my eyes, causing my eyes to pop. As I looked into the mirror once more, I still couldn't believe it had been seven months since Jasper had proposed.

The students from the human school had stayed for the remaining week of their trip before leaving to go back home. I had kept in contact with Krista, Fred and Jo but they hadn't been free much recently, only having a few minutes between all of them to talk to me. I tried not to let it bother me but it was.

Sighing, I dispelled the negative thoughts from my mind and sat on the end of my bed, pulling my silk dressing gown closer to my body as I waited for my wonderful assistants to return from their champaign hunt so that we could continue dolling ourselves up. A few seconds later, Aphrodite and my mother came barging in, holding a bottle of alcohol each, gods, we were going to be drunk before the ceremony even started.

"Isa, sweety you look beautiful," Aphrodite said dramatically, popping the cork on the bottle she was holding and pouring it into three glasses she summoned. why she couldn't have just done that for the drinks, I don't know.

"you said that about ten minutes ago, 'dite." I exclaimed.

"yes well it's your wedding day honey, you need to be told that a lot."

Rolling my eyes, I relaxed as I felt my mum begin massaging my shoulders, she always knew what I needed, even if I didn't.

suddenly I was pulled to my feet by Aphrodite as she led- bounced me over to where my dress was hanging in the bag. "Come on, your ceremony is in an hour and you're not even in your dress."

I gave them both an anxious smile before unzipping the bag and letting it fall to the floor. I heard two happy squeals behind me as if they hadn't been there when I chose the bloody thing.

I slid it off the hanger, holding the silky material in my hands before turning to look at them, a brow raised as I waited for them to clock that they actually needed to help me rather than just faff around like idiots. After a few seconds of all of us staring at each other, my mother seemed to realise what I was waiting for.

"Oh goddess! I forgot we're meant to help you in the dress. Its been centuries since I last attended a wedding and centuries more since I was a bridesmaid or whatever I technically am."

"you're my maid of honour, you are going down behind me and 'dite behind you, okay?" I asked, going over their roles once more as they took my dress from my hands and began moving my limbs like I was some sort of rag doll.

"Yep, got it, okay, err, step-- yes just--yes--almos--PERFECT!" the two of them rambled incoherently, their speech a jumble of incomplete words as they helped me wiggle into my dress.

A dainty pair of hands swept my veil over my shoulder before I felt my lungs and chest slowly close up as the corset back of my dress was done up.

hey, who needs oxygen anyway? breathing is so overrated.

"Ouch! jesus christ mum, watch it would ya'!" I cried as a particularly firm tug almost made me lose my balance.

"watch your language missy." she scolded lightly but did nothing to ease the ferocity at which she was doing up my dress, making me roll my eyes, glad that she couldn't see my face.

After a few more minutes of tugging, smoothing and lacing, I was declared done. However, I shrieked when Aphrodite disappeared halfway under my skirt and yanked up one of my legs to put my shoes on.

"A little warning might have been nice, yeah 'dite?" I half hissed, they were making this very stressful with the lack of communication. Things just didn't seem to be flowing as smooth as they did a year ago. I guess we just need to get back into the rhythm.

"Isa, catch." I spun around to see my wedding tiara spinning through the air towards me. I caught in in my hands, sending my mother a wry smile before looking in the vanity mirror next to me and adjusting it on my head until it was perfect.

"I think you're all ready, and just in time too." they both came to stand at my side, "my little girl's all grown up." my mother whispered, her eyes wide and watery.

"Oh, no no no-- please, don't cry - mum, if you cry then ill cry-- hey its okay, it's not like I'm going anywhere you cant be within like ten seconds, right?"

She wiped her eyes with a tissue before smiling widely, as if she hadn't just been crying seconds before.. some people jeesh.

"Time to go, honey," Aphrodite said kindly from near the door, she walked over to us with three bouquets, mine slightly larger and more colourful while there's were still really beautiful but smaller.

They were both dressed in light blue traditional greek gowns while I was in my own, but a white one with gold accents to match my makeup. I also had an arm cuff on my right bicep and a low handing necklace, all in gold of course.

With that we left the room, me dazing out until I felt someone hook their arm through mine, glancing up, I noticed it was my dad, like my actual dad- Zeus.

"You look beautiful," he whispered before the music started and he began leading me down the aisle.

Glancing to my left I noticed all my friends from camp, as well as the students from the supernatural academy. Peter and Char were sat on the front bench with all the gods and goddesses around them. Looking over to my right, I saw more students but a few, in particular, stood out, there on the front on the right were Fred, Jo and Krista, a huge smile broke out onto my face as I made eye contact with Krista. After finishing my observations, with thankfully only took a few seconds I focused my attention on the beautiful mad stood at the other end of the aisle. There he was, my mate, my groom, my soon-to-be-husband, my Jasper.

It was in that moment when our eyes met that I knew despite everything we'd been through, an everything we still had to come, that in the end, it would all turn out alright because I had him and he had me.

According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.

I smiled at the old tale we used to be told around the campfire at camp, glad that after all this time, I had found my other half and now we had the rest of forever to spend together.
