I let out a loud groan of displeasure as I followed the stream of excited students out of the hall. I seemed to be the only one who wasn't 'totally psyched' about this 'lit' trip like the majority of the other students were.
''Cheer up Iza! We're going to Texas, you of all people should be excited!'' Krista cheered, bouncing alongside me. Well, at least she's excited. I thought bitterly to myself. shrinking further into my hood and rolling my eyes.
''Come on, come on! Where's Fred and Jo ?'' She continued, looking desperately through the crowd before grabbing onto my hand and tugging me through the sea of students, causing me to bump into a few earning me dirty looks as I shouted an apologie before being tugged out of sight by Krista. Why is she even in such a rush? We're not leaving until eight in the morning tomorrow and it's barely ten in the morning now, plus its a Saturday so it's not like we have classes.
''Whats the rush?'' I wheezed out, due to the unexpected exercise.
''We need to find Fred and Jo! And all pack and make sure that we have everything! I always pack like two weeks in advance! Not twenty-four hours!" She yelled back before suddenly stopping, causing me to run straight into her back sending both of us to the floor in a heap. Ouch, I was sooo going to bruise thanks to that. How wonderful. "Iza!" Krista scolded me leaping up and flattening her skirt.
"A little help maybe?" I asked, readjusting my hood to be firmly over my head. This was going to be an interesting trip, hot Texan heat and a hoodie. better pack a lot of deodorant. Or maybe... no, I couldn't do that. there's no way I can't wear a hoodie. The thought alone makes me feel sick with anxiety. i'll deal with it.
"Err. Iza? You okay? You home? " I snapped back to reality to Krista waving a hand in front of my face, Jo and Fred stood in the open door to our dorm with concerned faces.
"Yeah I'm fine, you're right, we need to pack. Have you two already started?" I asked, nodding my head at Jo and Fred, getting positive hums in response. I used Krista's outstretched hand to help pull myself up before the four of us entered our dorm. Jo and Fred were halfway through packing, trunks laying open on their beds, partially packed with a few random objects. I made my way over to my bed, getting on my knees and pulling my suitcase out from its place under my it.
"So we're there for seven days, six nights or seven nights, eight days?" I asked no one in general.
"Not sure, Miss Lemmings just said a week so I'm assuming Sunday to Sunday so six nights? I'm packing extra in case stuff gets dirty, ya know, what do you recommend wearing Iza? Lemmings was persistent on wearing boots or wellies. Something about snakes I think..." Jo answered
"SNAKES??!!!" Fred yelled. It was no secret that Fred hated snakes with a deep routed, burning passion.
"Oh hush Fred, it'll be fine it's just a precaution I've never seen a snake at school a there once in my life" Mainly because I've never been to Texas but still... they didn't need to know that.
Fred went back to packing along with everyone else, mumbling something about a snake belt, making me chuckle. Poor snakes.
I began packing clothes I thought were suitable for the hot Texas weather such as jeans, boots and light shirts. I also found a few sleeveless hoodies and casual dresses. I packed two swimsuits just in case, you never know.
I stretched out my arms in front of me, watching my ring glisten in the light before throwing in my wash bag, makeup, and hairbrush. I was about to zip up my bag when there was a knock a the door.
"I'll get it," I said quickly before opening the door to one of the prefects in the year above. "Err, hi?" I said, slightly confused.
"Here's a kit list, you need it all," she said rudely, shoving a sheet of paper into my hands before strutting away. Well, someones in a mood.
"Guys we've just been given a very precise kit list." I announced, looking at the long list of items.
"What! I've almost just finished!" Krista cried, earning similar responses from Jo and Fred.
"Yea, well hopefully we've got most of it already packed, let's just empty our bags onto our beds then repack okay?" I suggested, already emptying the contents of my bag onto my bed. Gotta love how organized this whole thing is. I mean don't they need permission or whatever from our parents for this? I mean, unless they were already told... ugh thanks for the warning dad.
"Whats the first thing on the list?" Jo asked."
"Erm, socks and underwear? please tell me you've all got that already." They all chucked before confirming that they had. So far so good right. "Okay, I'll just read it and we can see what we need to pack. So, we need, jeans, shorts- but they cant be too short- typical, lightweight shirts, swimsuits, water bottle, suncream, boots, formal wear, har, sunglasses, wash kit, phone, charger, earphones and a lightweight waterproof. Huh, I didn't really think it rained in Texas, but at least the list isn't too bad. I think I've already packed it all apart from the formal wear. Wonder why we need that? "
"Yeah that's a bit weird, maybe the boarding schools in Texas are like uber posh or something?" Jo shrugged, now looking for some formal wear like the rest of us.
"Maybe, I just have a feeling about this trip. something big is going to happen but I cant tell if it's good or bad yet," I said into the now quiet room.
"you're probably just anxious about going back to your home country, I know I would be after however long its been. It'll be fine, you're just a bit paranoid." Fred said reassuringly.
I knew I wasn't just being paranoid, usually when i got these feeling it was for a good reason, but the only thing I can do now is to wait and see whats going to be thrown at me this time.
