Chapter 20: Clue?

They never found his body...now he's hunting everybody...

I was still sitting in Kirk and Shawn cabin. I have no clue what taking them so long. I was looking at some of the letters that were in the bag. I opened one up and there was a picture. The picture was of two little girls smiling and a group of about four boys acting like they were wresting. It was quite comical. The letter read,

Dear mom and dad,

                              I'm having a great time at camp. These are some of my new friends. We have been hanging out a lot since I got here. We have done all kinds of things like fishing and swiming. Camp fires are my favortive time of the day at camp. We get to roast marshmellows and sing camp songs around the fire. I put a picture of my friends in the letter. If it wasn't for them I don't think I would be enjoying camp. The next to me her name is Melissa. The four boys names are Jake, hes Melissa brother. The other three are his cabin mates. There names are Aden, Jackson, and Jamal. They are really nice. They ind of act like our big brothers. Its nice to have someone looking out for us. Espically after the scary stories they tell us at camp.

Shawns other two bunkmates came back looking for him. I made up some story that Kirk and Shawn were off hiking in the woods. I couldn't say they were anywhere near camp because then they could go look for them and easily see they are nowhere to be found. Those two idiots bought it. 

I heard a knock on the door and thought it was strange. Nobody ever knocks on the cabin doors they just come right in unless its night time. Most of the time the doors are open. People walk in and out of them because we all know just about everyone at the camp. I walked over to the door and saw Susie H. I opened the screen door so that she could come in. 

"Susie, what are you doing here?" "I've been looking for you and Dani all day. I figured you would be here with Shawn." "Oh, no they aren't here." "Where did they go?" "Uh, Shawn went to go get me an ice pack. My ankle is still a little sore." "Aw, that's too bad. Do you want to go fishing with me by the lake?" Where else would we go fishing? "Uh yeah sure. But I'll kind of want to wait for Shawn to get back." "I'm pretty sure he would spot us at the lake come on." She grabbed my arm basically dragging me out the cabin. 

"Susie why are we all the way over here just to go fishing." "Because this is the best fishing spot in the whole camp. There is nobody out here swimming and making a lot of noise. Its easiest for catching something." I looked back at cabin six. We were standing right in front of cabin six. "You don't think it's creepy being out here?" "No, I come out here all the time." "By yourself." "Yeah, why not?" "Is there where you are always disappearing to?" "What do you mean?" She said frowning. "Nevermind." She shrugged her shoulders and continued on fishing. I always knew something was off about Susie but why here?

Danielle, Shawn, and Kirk started to come out cabin six. I tried to make noise to distract Susie from finding out. "Oh look there is a big fish right there," I yelled. "Okay, but you should be quiet maybe we can catch it." I threw my rod in the water letting the wire get tangled with Susie wire. "Oh my bad I didn't mean to, how do I get this out." "Wait La'Rayna don't move so we don't get even more tangled." I started moving more and making more noise. 

What are you guys doing over here? "Going fishing?" "By cabin six." "Yes, its the best spot. Hey what are you guys doing over here? I thought you went on a hike?" "We did go on a hike." "The hike trail is on the other side of the lake." "Cool it Susie I was showing them some cool spots up ahead. You've been there." Kirk said. "Yeah and it was no fun. You guys shouldn't have been up there. If you get caught don't say I didn't warn you." 

While Susie was busy with the fishing poles We walled off to the side to talk. We know she was still in ear shot so we decided to speak in code. "Did you guys find anything?" "Yeah we found some pretty interesting things. Did you finish reading?" "Um yeah I got through most of it. Not too much information but the story was intresting." "I don't think I'm going to be able to get these poles apart. We might as well head back to camp." "Good idea you lead the way."

We made it back to Shawns and Kirks cabin. We felt like that was th only safe place to discuss things. Susie H went to go put the fishing poles away. Hopefully she goes and finds something else to do like she noramlly does. After we made sure that nobody elsewas going to be borthering us for awhile we started tlking about what we were going to do with the information we found so far. 

"Apparently the book was Jakes journal. He wrote an entry about his entire experience at camp. He didn't have any friends and he only came to camp for Melissa sake. He ended up making a friend that went missing as well. He thought creepy and strange stuff was going on at the camp as well. After his friend went missing everyone pretended like the kid never even existed. He never mentioned who this friend was. He was writing letters like we were to our parents but he never heard back from his parents either. His last entry he said that he was going to look for answers."

"What do you think he was looking for?" "I'm not sure. I guess the samething we are." "Do you think he found anything?" "Maybe. It could explain why he went missing." "I bet that was the last time anybody heard from him." "Could be." "So what did you guys find?"

"Well we were never able to get into the cousulers cabin thats why we went back to cabin six. We searched everywhere but couldn't find anything," said Shawn. "But I remember at home sometimes I stuff things I don't want my parents to find under the floorboards." Kirk chimed in. "So we checked under there." "What did you guys find?" "We looked under the floorboards and found a stack of letters. Guess who they are by?" "Jake." "Yeah but these weren't adressed to his parents." 

"Did you guys read the letters?" "Well we decide to leave that up to two." "Why us?" "Because we are going back to checkout the couslers cabin. They got to be hiding something in there." "If you guys couldn't get in the first time what makes this time so much different?" "I just have to know what thy are hiding." "Okay do what you have to do but becareful Shawn."

What did Jakes letters say?

"Its the woods. Something has to be out there in the woods. If we can't get into the counsulers cabin we have to go searching in the woods." "No way I'm not going." "We have to thats what Jake did. If he was even close to finding out what happened we have to follow his trail."

"Yeah and look what happened to Jake. We don't even know where his trail started." "Yeah I'm with La'Rayna on this. There aren't enough clues. What are we supposed to go based on assumptions? Whos to say Jake isn't the killer." "You are the one that wanted asnwer la'Rayna." "Yes, I know that. Stop throwing that in my face okay. Look where the answer got us. Nowhere. We haven't found a thing. All we know is that the camp is hiding something and we don't know what exactly. Can't we just leave it at that."

"I'm not willing to. We came so far. What if what we find is exactly what Jake found and it could stop what has been going on at this camp for years." "I feel like we are about to open up a can of worms." "Too late we already did."

We were back here. On these familiar grounds. A place that I never wanted to come again. If we were going to find answer these woods were going to tell us all we needed to know. So we hope. We were walking just passed cabin six. 

"What do you expect us to find out here?" "Yeah, I mean we have no clue what Jake was looking for." "I don't plan on looking for what Jake was looking for. We don't have enough information from him to go on." "Well why are we going on this hike?" "To find Cash. Hes got to be around here somewhere. I'm not buying that story the counselors are selling."
