School has said to be an essential part of your life, and it's scares me that how great your adulthood is, relies on how you did as a teenager. But you know, life is pretty shitty and adults quite frankly don't give a fuck about how you feel. With that in mind that is where I am today.
Resting my head on my hand as I lazily lean into my best friend during this boring lesson. I can't comprehend why we are forced to wake up at obnoxious hours, then sent to school for six hours learning things we don't need that will leave our brains the minute we turn in that test. It also really pisses me off. Listening to my algebra teacher drone on about quadratic formulas, I feel as if they feed us unimportant things just to test out memory and compare us who's 'smarter' than who.
Though what they really should be teaching us how to be prepared; for anything in particular because I was not expecting three textbooks to slam their way on my desk pulling me out of my day dream.
"Mr. Barakat. If I catch you day dreaming in my class again, say goodbye to the rest of the year because all the other detentions you have will make your Fridays my days." She expected me to flinch at the raise in her voice but I just stared blankly at her. All they want is a reaction and there is no way in hell I'm stooping down to their level just to give them satisfaction.
"You know Mrs. Nelson," Shit no, Alex stay out of this, "maybe if your lesson wasn't more boring than hell, he wouldn't have been daydreaming." You've got to be fucking kidding me.
"Well alex, if you have such strong opinions on my teaching skills, you and Jack will be seeing me for detention until final exams." She fixed her glasses as the bell rang. "See you after school boys, and don't even try to ditch again. I still can give you summer detention you know."
I groaned at the fact I'll have to see her face more than I already have too. We made our way out to our last class together.
At the beginning of the year, Alex was only doing an exchange program but his parents decided to move; I somehow ended up being his guide. We were given the same schedule and sent our ways. At first, I hated the idea of someone following me around like a lost puppy but, we ended up becoming best friends so I'm happy.
"Well, that was fun." he started, laughing a little.
"No it wasn't dude. you completely screwed me over! I was almost off detention too."
"Common. What's better than spending your after school Fridays with your best friend and a bitch of a teacher?"
"Staying at home and eating." he laughed at that but you know it's true.
We made our way through the mob of teenagers which is never fun coming down to the fact I hate when people touch me. We walked into the classroom. The only class I actually enjoyed. Biology. Not only because we do a lot of labs but the teacher doesn't care what we do, so most of the time me and Alex end up in an all out war of school supplies with a couple people joining in.
I noticed that stuff for a lab was set up around the room. Me and Alex both turned to each other with an excited grin on of faces. Today might be like any other day but I would make the most of it. I always like to find enjoyment of the little things in life. And since this lab requires clothespin, I know shits gonna go down.
