I can't believe you fell for that

You believed the lies they told you

Of us, of a second chance

That it could be more than just some high school romance

You wanted a hero

A heroine, to be exact

A pretty bird you can chain

So she'll always be in view in her cage

While you go live your life

And have her on display

You wanted a constant

In this rapidly changing world

In this cruel chaos called reality

Where she can be your bandage

To soak and cover up the pain

But sadly, immature baby

Band-Aids don't fix bullet holes

I say sorry just for show

Caged birds may still sing

But nightingales sing better when they spread their wings

How in the world could I be your hero

When you refuse to go beyond zero?
