Chapter TwentyTwo: Fire Girl

There was an awkward silence in the courtyard, everyone was surprised by the girl who had challenged the new Captain, everyone but Jason.

He smiled, "You said your name is Anna right?"

She coldly replied, "Yes."

"I feel like I've heard that name somewhere, but I cannot remember." He walked in front of her,"But I accept your challenge."

"Jason wait!" Nozomi shouted. "You can't have a duel unless you have more than 200 people to witness it."

"Seems to me that there are more than two hundred people here." Anna responded back to Nozomi with a bit of attitude.

"Well then, lets go to the arena." Jason said and flash stepped away with two hundred shinigami following.

The arena for Squad 13 was small, it held at maximum of four hundred people. It was in the shape of a square exterior wise. Between the arena and the seatings in which the squad members stood was a small patch of rectangular grass.

Jason and Anna were in the middle of the ring, while Nozomi watched on the patch of grass, all other Soul Reapers were sitting on the bleachers; all cheering for their new Captain to beat the girl.

Anna seemed to be distracted by this and Jason noticed.

"Hey, don't let them get to you, just focus your attention on me."

"I don't need your help, so shut up."

Jason frowned at the girls response but disregarded it. Nozomi then announced, "The fight between the Captain Jason Kennedy and Anna Sagings is about to begin! Both participants unsheathed their sword!"

Anna took out her zanpakutō, the blade was a normal katana except for the fact that there was no guard. The Captain then took out his sword, as he raised it and brought it down a wave of ferocious wind was unleashed.

"Begin!"

Anna charged straight towards Jason without thinking, slashing at him; however he was easily blocking. She went for a left jab but Jason ducked under. With the hilt of his sword, he smacked it into her face, sending her flying towards the other side of the ring.

She did not stand up; some Soul Reapers began to leave out of boredom. Others stayed so they wouldn't have to go back to work.

"Hey, are you taking a nap?" Jason shouted towards the girl on the floor.

"Of course not." She smiled as she struggled to get up. "I'm just getting started."

"I admire your determination to beat me Anna but lets be realistic, you can't."

"Just shut up." She began to move her sword in a clock wise matter as she spoke the words. "Slice, Honōnomuchi"

The metal blade of the katana disappeared and in its place was a whip made of fire.

"An unseated officer and you know shikai?" Jason grinned. "This may get interesting now."

He launched himself towards her, his sword raised, but the girl just slash straight onto him with her whip. The attack was strong enough to rip through the air and a part of Jason's hair.

"Thanks for the free haircut" Jason teased.

With disgust Anna replied, "God you've gotten annoying since we first me."

"So we've met before?" Jason responded intrigued.

"Yes, but apparently you've forgotten me."

Jason was about to ask another question when Anna began to twirl the whip above her, forming a blazing fire vortex in front of Jason's eyes.
