“….The Vice President of Victoria’s Palace Hotel, Jovana Livic, has suddenly gone crazy by stopping a group of senior citizens rallying for freedom and peace for the country…”
“…And the worst part was that she was still wearing her pajamas in public and as a role model, she should possess a good image for the public. First, she pushed actor and TV endorser, Christopher Pains down on the stairs of the hotel and this new scandal appeared…”
“…Authorities says she should be fired before the hotel would lose customers and its rank one would go down.”
A click of the remote suddenly was heard around our living room and the television quickly goes black. A feeling of embarrassment came all around me as my cheeks turned brightly red. I was too much of this and I can’t believe my face seen on the TV screen. This was the second time I saw myself on TV appearing like an idiot to everyone. Most of all, this was the very first time I was throwing temper tantrums everywhere and I can’t help myself look like a fool. What happened to me, really?
“Jovana, do you want to get fired?” my boss said suddenly breaking the long silence.
My mother, my boss, my secretary and…Christopher is here. All of them turned to look at me with depressed feelings on their eyes. I can feel a sense of bad mood around me like there were eyes staring daggers at me.
The air con makes the temperature completely cold but not too cold because there were people around and I just sat in there with my eyes completely looking at the white colored wall. I hate it so much.
“Jovana, did you hear me?” my boss suddenly yelled and I was so shocked at the sudden response.
I sat up straight with my chin up and my feet both flat on the floor.
“Yes, sir. I…heard what you said.” I said wearily.
“Then, tell me what I just said.” He replied angrily with his arms crossed.
“If…I wanted to get…fired?” I asked nervously as my knees were now shaking on the ground. I’m not really used to talking to my boss while sitting except for meetings but I never really had experienced with my boss standing while I…well, just sitting.
“That’s good, Jovana. Now, tell me your answer. Do you?” he replied sarcastically as he started to move around the living room adoring the small chandelier at the top.
“No.” That was my answer and I really don’t know what I should just say but that came out from my mouth with no hesitation.
“If you don’t want, what is one of the best and most basic rule in the world of professionalism towards publicity?”
“To be a good role model to everyone and the public.” I replied seriously.
“You missed one thing in there.” He stopped looking around and now glared at me with his Chinese eyes.
I was left there just staring at my boss and noticed he was now stressed today and had tiny bits of sweat across his forehead. That’s not good.
“None, sir. I did not-” I replied back but was cut off by his reply.
“Yourself.”
My eyes widen a bit and my cheeks started to burn red again. Gosh! The people around me just stayed in their place and now tried to look at me then my boss, then me again and vice versa.
I looked down on the floor and my heart aches a little. Why are you so forgotten? Aren’t I an intelligent person? Oh such a human! I totally didn’t realize that thing and I can’t even remember what I was now feeling.
