Chapter 7: The Awakening

I am in the middle of the meadows and not far away from my distance there's a pretty lagoon. It has crystal clear water that turns blue due to the sky's reflection. Spring breeze blow my wavy hair as I run trying to catch a butterfly. Under the tree near to the lagoon there were to person staring at me with a bright smile on their faces. They were my parents, I remember the reason why we were here. It is my seventh birthday, and we decided to have a picnic.

As my mom wave her hands for me to come to them, I spread my wings and fly freely enjoying the coldness of the wind under my wings. I fly high and close my wings to drop at full speed then spread my wings again when I'm near the ground. I am so happy knowing that it is my birthday and both of my parents were there. To top it all I am very happy to finally spread my wings and to feel free to fly. I fly towards the direction of my mother and land just right in front of them. My father pat my head as he mess with my hair. Then my mom hugs me tight and showers me with her tiny loving kisses.

Everything is fine and almost perfect, I am happy having both of them beside me. Until one day there's crashing news that was delivered to my mom. I hide at the back of the door covering my mouth as I listen to her conversation with my dad's messenger.

"I'm sorry my queen but lord Damien tried his best to win against the battle and to return home to you and to the princess. But the creature on north was too many and they play a dirty trick on the battle. They execute everyone in our army after they behead our king. They leave me behind to send this message to you." The messenger stated while crying.

"Who are those creatures?" my mom asks him with anger on her eyes.

"It was the demon hunter, my queen" he stated unsure if he want to answer my mom's question.

I heard a lot about the demon hunter. They are the hybrid creature made to put an end to our kind. Typically they were a mix of a witch blood and of any creature except us. They've hunting us for millennial and now they found us and start to put an end to our kind by killing my father, the king of all demon. I can see the pain on my mom's eyes but she never cry.

A year later and things got even worst. My mom held an investigation about my father's death and it confirms my mom's suspicions. The creature that helps the hunter to kill my father was one of his many enemies. He is also a demon named Alaric, he is so greedy to get into my father's position. He tried a lot of time but always end up being a loser over my father. He betrayed his own kind for the sake of power.

Then one day Alaric kidnapped me to gain a power over my mother. He needed her to give him the throne willingly, for him not to have too much trouble dealing with our own kind who doesn't want him to be the ruler. He used me stain my mother's name. In order for me to survive my mother should follow his order. He made her do things that were against our law, for our people to despise her.

Then as his last request for my mother before he release me, he command her to kill the hunter that killed my father. For he know that the hunter will be after him soon. Mom does everything to save me. She went to the human world and killed the hunter, even if it is against her will.

She then sends me to the human world and makes me leave and believe that I am a human. She erased my memories as she left me to my human parents. She conceals my real identity and made me forget everything including her.

****Maria slumped to her feet as she starts to sobs. She can't believe who she really was and what her past are. Then Edelyn starts to step out of the mirror and caress her cheeks.
