Introduction
Hi! Welcome to thePersonal Development Quick-Start Guide – For Teens!
So what is this "PersonalDevelopment" anyway? Is it just a bunch of happy talk or what?
NO, IT IS NOT. It'svery important. It's the difference between living the life of yourdreams or living the life that most people live – the life of anaverage 8-hour per day job, only surviving, not really living, struggling through and slogging on through life.
LISTEN! You'veonly got one life.
When you think about it,what is it with this planet we live on? Is there anywhere else in theuniverse where a type of creature living on a rock in space is NOTHAPPY and feels MISERABLE or BORED?
Why shouldn't we live thelife we want and make our dreams come true?
While the big questionsof "Why are we here?" and "What is this life?" have beenaddressed by religions and philosophers since ancient times, theregenerally seems to be agreement that the world appears to be dividedinto two groups – a relatively small group who holds most of moneyand the world's resources and a much larger group with less money andfewer things to live on. The "haves" and "have nots", as somepeople say.
Why this is? 20th.Century politics tried hard to understand this problem. Communistsand socialists thought it was about social class. Democrats andcapitalists talked about unfair distribution of wealth.
Neither of these ideas isvery strong. If I divided the Earth's resources equally and gaveeveryone an equal opportunity to use them and said, "Right, ready? One, two, three – GO!", then there would still be a smaller bunchof people who would race ahead of the others, making the most of whatthey had been given, wisely storing up resources for the future andgaining profit from putting those resources to good use, while themajority would simply eat, drink or otherwise burn through all theirstuff as quickly as possible, realise that they had nothing left, then would go begging to work for the smaller group, who would thenonly give out their resources based on how much work each member ofthe larger group was willing to do and based on those persons'overall usefulness to the smaller group's plans. So we would be backto the same thing again with no improvement over what we have today.
So what is it that makesmembers of the smaller group different from most people? What do theyhave that allows them to succeed and have access to the life theywant? What do most people do wrong that causes them to miss out onmost of the action, waste what little they have, then spend the restof their lives working for someone else?
Religious figures, suchas OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, had plenty to say on this matter.
Personal Developmentlists these aspects and puts them in step-by-step order, then teachesthem to others so that they can achieve the lifestyle of the "haves"and make their dreams come true!
