"Right, so where is it we must go from here again?" Mr Spade questioned as we continued walking in what we assume is the correct destination.
"The druid's castle," Sensei said, attempting to read the map in his hands.
"And that is... where?"
"Nearby" Sensei replied curtly, looking closer at something.
"Clouds!" Shadow abruptly chirped from where she rested upon Mr Spade's shoulders.
"Clouds?" I questioned, looking to her confused.
She nodded her head vigorously, not seeming to notice my confusion.
"Yes, clouds. In clouds"
"What is that supposed to me?" Mr Spade muttered as he shuffled her on his shoulders slightly.
I gave a small shrug.
"What do you mean by that Shadow?" I questioned, stepping closer to her.
"Druid lives away, far away, but close to here," She said, playing with Mr SPades locks.
Right, this isn't helping...
I looked to say more but am interrupted by a large bang in the air above us.
Immediately, we all ducked for cover, hiding behind some large boulders the layers the edges of the forest.
"Where did that come from?" Barnes cried with outrage as the image before us cleared.
I tired to get a closer look through the puff of smoke and red light, but the shadow does not seem... Natural.
"Safina..." Sensei growled under her breath as the creature before me came into sight.
But even with a clear image, I cannot define as to what is it.
With a beaked mouth and awkwardly bent limbs, it stood taller than the trees, as the snarl on his face blended perfectly with the wrinkles upon its leather skin, it is definitely not of anything I have ever seen before.
"Safina?" Barnes questioned with disbelief "That's Safina's?!"
"It must be," Sensei said, as he pulled out his blade.
"But what is it.... Exactly? " I question as I tried to get a closer look at it. Sensei held me back slightly.
"That is hard to explain"
"It is not one thing, but a many" Mr Spade interested, his tone deep and grave as he looked upon the creature with... pity?
"The witch couldn't have sent something, uh, I don't know.. L.ess filthy?" Barnes said, light-heartedly with a nervous chuckle.
"Filthy is exactly what she is," Sensei said "and it makes sense that reflexes in the creatures she creates.
"Creatures, she creates?" I echoed.
"Yes," Mr Spade said, nodding, heavily
"Safina enjoyed experimenting with blending forms of creatures and people. What you see before you is a product of such merging."
I felt bile build up at the back of my throat.
"Bad, bad witch" Shadow whispered, her tone both tight with anger and shaking with fear.
"Yes," I said, grinding my teeth. "Bad witch"
"And now I can't bring myself to fight it..." Barnes muttered, the yellow light coating his hands flashing.
I bit my lips as I scanned the creature.
He has a point... Wait.
"Maybe we don't have to," I said as I put my sword away and instead removed my bow and arrow.
"What do you mean?"
"Here, I'll show you," I said before holding an arrow out to him as the creature struck with rage at all things around us. Whether to find ous or in anger and range, I do not know. But he has yet to move in our direction.
"Spell it"
"With what?" he asked, confused as he moved to take it.
"An unlocking spell"
Nodding, he got to work, without any ore question.
We ducked as something came barreling over our heads.
A tree. A fully grown tree uprooted from the ground.
"Hurry!" I said as I felt the trembles of the ground grow stronger as the creature moved in our direction.
"Done!" He said, throwing the arrow in my direction.
Let's hope this works... I thought as I got ready to shoot.
"Swift!" Sensei shouted over a large growl that filled the air as I let loose the shot.
Bullseye! I thought as I watched the chains around his neck, similar to that of the witches own, open and disappear.
There is silence.
I held my breath.
Ever so slowly, the creature lifted a hand to its now empty neck.
A tear slipped loose from his eyes.
He let loose enough to cry.
This time, one of a lighter tone.
We watched as he abruptly started moving, away from us, away from others.
"Swift... save him?" Shadow muttered with uncertainty and awe as we watched it leave A hand lay upon my shoulder.
Looking over, My breath caught as caught the smile upon Sensei's face.
"That, she said. Good job pup"
