"So, how much longer?"
"Just across this trail, Shadow says," I said as we continued down the long path that seems to have no end.
"What do you think we are going to have to fight this time? Monsters? Fire witches? A dragon?" Barnes questioned as he kicked a stone along the path.
I chuckled.
"Dragon, maybe" Dhadow muttered as she mimicked his movements. His head spun around to her with quick speed, swifter than me, eyes wide and a look of horror upon his expression.
"Please, don't tell me you're serious" he pleaded.
Shadow only smiled as she skipped alongside me, leaving him in our dust, frozen.
"Barnes! Hurry along my boy, we don't need a repeat of last time when you guys fell behind!" Mr Spade called, snapping him out of his shock.
His rushed footsteps quickly met up with us.
"You're taking that news way to lightly" he muttered as he went back to his hands in pocket strut alongside me.
He glanced at me at the corner of his eyes.
"Whatever we face I am sure we shall get through. Together" I said, determinedly "after all we have people to save. And if I want to hold the role of a hero, fear and surprise are not exactly going to be helpful"
"Huh" Barnes simply replied as we joined sensei and Mr Spade further up the path.
"I think we should rest the night here," Sensei said, looking around to the empty campsite space "it shall be getting dark soon"
Mr Spades nodded "agreed. Why don't we set up the tents and magical barrier then?"
Nodding, we all got to work. It isn't long before we are all set up, gathered around the campfire to set up the guard plan.
"Swift and Barnes, you get your sleep tonight," Sensei said "Spade and I shall take the shifts"
"But- " I started to protest.
