DDWD- Don't Date While Desperate

We all know that desperate people will do pretty stupid things.

This is ESPECIALLY true with dating.

Someone I know, who's only fifteen, has been in two dating relationships so far, and is now on his third one. He's "dating" a girl he met online (and doesn't even know in real life)!

Unfortunately, he doesn't see that he is actually desperate and that he is irrational about this whole thing.

Desperation can do a lot of things to a person, especially if they're desperate for love or affection from another person. The following of the things are more than likely to happen to someone who is desperate to be part of something that they think will bring them fulfillment:

1. They stray away from God.

The enemy has a number of tools to attack someone, and convincing them that God can't or won't give you love is one of them. When someone is convinced that they can find fulfillment for their desire to be loved and accepted in the world, they'll sleep around and do stuff that should only be done within marriage.

2. When they start seeking fulfillment from the world, they start to feel emptier.

No matter where you search, no matter who you go to, and no matter what you do, you won't be happy or find fulfillment unless you seek God.

"Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually."

- 1 Chronicles 16:11

3. They don't grow in faith.

They're too busy listening to the world and become so overwhelmed that they don't hear God's calm voice telling them, "Follow me."

This is just a generalization of what happens, and I'm sure there are plenty more consequences to seeking dating relationships rather than seeking a relationship with God. Oh, yeah, and you'll more than likely to end up in a relationship that is not healthy for you. God wants you to be in a relationship that glorifies Him.

So ladies, don't date while desperate. Nothing good will come out of it.
