I sat there with Chole and Tyana by my side. Jerome was here too. We all were looking at Mitch, laying in the hospital bed, almost dead. After the fight he had almost every part of his body broken, and he was badly beat up. Suddenly, Chris and Jason came into the room.
"Sorry we beat up Mitch, Jess. We didn't really mean it," Jason apologized.
"Yeah," Chris agreed with Jason. "We didn't realize we beat him up so bad." Jerome and I took seats closest to Mitch. I was near to tears.
"We'll leave you guys for now," Chris said and the rest followed them out except Jerome and I. His heartbeat
was slowly decreasing by the minute.
"Please Mitch, you're too young to die," I stated.
"C'mon biggums! Don't let the Bacca down," Jerome pleaded.
His heartbeat was almost to a rate of zero. Jason came into the room and put his arms around me. I didn't bother pushing him away from me.
"I'm sorry Jess. I really am," Jason apologized. I was almost ready to cry. But I held the urge back.
"Jessica...Jerome..." We all heard Mitch say. His eyes opened the slightest bit but I was still able to see those handsome hazel eyes.
"Biggums... Stay t-the same B- Bacca you've always been..." Mitch tried to say.
"I will Mitch," Jerome promised.
"Jessica Marie Briar..." Mitch managed to say. " I-I love you..." One tear ran down my cheek.
"I love you too Mitch Donald Hughes," I replied.
"I love you all..." Mitch said. I kissed him for a few seconds and I pulled away. His eyes closed and I heard a long sustained beep. I couldn't hear his heart beat anymore. Jason held me tighter and waves of tears fell down my face. The nurse came in and took Mitch away.
"That's it," Jerome stated. "He's gone." Jason helped me get up. I never wanted to leave his arms.
"I'm truly sorry Jessica," Jason apologized for the millionth time.
He kissed my forehead.
"Me too," Chris said as he came to us. I looked at Mitch again and I saw his eyes slightly open, or I was just fooling myself. I let go of Jason and walked up to Mitch. I leaned in closer, his eyes were open. That's what triggered my movement. I kissed him for a few seconds. Then I let go. His eyes completely opened.
"Jessica?" Mitch asked softly.
