Final Goodbye

Realizing what you had

is now lost

what was yours

is now gone

what had been in your sites

has disappeared

I hated you

when the memories were the present

but the present is now the past

and I grieve those days

when you and I

created an us

Now there is a space

separating two

who had nearly been connected

more than friends

yet not that far

I hate to say I miss you

though claiming otherwise

is purely a lie

the tears have only just dried

over the past I have cried

I didn’t see what I had

until you left

those days of talking all night

are done and gone

I didn’t even get to say goodbye

Why you left

I don’t know

if I could have you back

I’d take you away

an eternity together

you and I

But that’s all done

you’re with someone new

while I’m still missing you

since I never got the chance

I must now say

my final goodbye
