June: Aaron

After not seeing Elvis again for a few days, it was a surprise to see him again. Any kindness he had for me vanished, like a spill of water on the sidewalk. He busted through Ms. Wallace's' door without a hint of mercy and in 3 long strides he sat. making all the noise he can make. Ms. Wallace, feeling either happy or sensing that he was not in a good mood, chose to ignore him. So did everyone else with a good conscience. I sat silently, in shame and in happiness because I truly missed him all throughout his missing days. The feelings I had for him intensified. I yearned for him. I looked at him, but he made no attempts to look back. Whatever we had, had vanished over the days.

After school, I went to the library to find books to read. The library was a large 1 floor building. In the right towards the back was the teachers lounge and in front of that was the teachers meeting room. Surrounding the teachers lounge were large tables set out for reading or studying. The middle had a check out area, where they checked your books. The whole left were books. All along the wall and in a row down the left side were shelves of books. Behind them were just a clear area with the schools logo on the bottom and a couple of tables again, for reading or studying or whatever. I made my way to the shelves and started roaming around. I had been looking through a whole and saw Elvis on the other side. He was looking at the shelve above him. He didn't move, he just stared at the books above. Looking at him made me realize how really handsome he was. He had no acne and his face was full of concentration and his full bottom lip was curved in such a unique way, it was as if he was an excellent kisser without even trying. His long lashes and black hair made his eyes seem a lighter blue. His sharp cheekbones and curved jaw complimented his eyes and hair. He was really movie star good looking. I stared for so long I hadn't realized he began to stare back at me. His eyes were colder than ever before and I have to admit he was even more handsome looking like he was about to growl.

He began striving away from me when I ran towards him. " Please! Wait! Elvis wait!" I shouted to no avail. It was like I was telling him to walk faster. He was walking towards the school logo area and I tried to intercept his way by blocking the shelve but he was too quick and while turning to block him I fell and twisted my ankle. I saw red and fell to the floor, grabbing my ankle. Adrenaline rushing through me, I didn't notice the pain until I stood up again and took another step. This time, it was burning pain. I fell clutching my leg, whimpering. Elvis turned slightly and watched. His expression was worried, his eyebrows were together and he reluctantly took a step towards me. "Are you all right?" A male voice said with concern. I looked to see a boy, who looked my age attempt to touch my leg. " Yeah." I said trying to see Elvis around his head. " Let me help you." He said in a deep southern accent. He threw my hands over his shoulders and before I could say anything else, we were already out of the library. His arms were so strong and I felt the muscles that so surrounded me. He was also very handsome. He had chestnut brown hair and also had blue eyes but his were warm and ocean blue. He in other words, was very beautiful. Once outside I snapped to it and told him to put me down.

He sat me on a bench and once again looked at me with concerned eyes. " Are you sure your okay?" He asked in a velvet voice. I nodded. Although it wasn't I really didn't want him to go through the trouble of walking, or carrying me home. I stood up and walked away, wincing at every step I took. It hurt like hell yeah but I wasn't going to show him I'm a crybaby about it. I heard laughter behind me and I turned to see him watching me walk away. " what's so funny?" I asked exasperated. " Well, you look like a wounded deer limping away like that and you also forgot your books." He pointed to the stack on the bench. I tried to walk back to the bench without wincing and failed miserably. I was sweating. He took my stuff in his hands and exclaimed " I will take you home." He lifted me up and despite my refusal he somehow got me into a piggyback position.

We walked out of the school into the street and I covered my face so that no one I knew could see us. It was so embarrassing. He chuckled lightly. " The coast is clear, you can stop covering your face." I looked up to see us walking on a deserted street. Too tired I rested my head on his shoulder. " Thanks a lot." I said with emotion in my voice. " Seriously, thank you very much." He smiled big and said " No problem. I assume you and your boyfriend were in a big fight and it was he was an awful jerk to walk away from a lady in need of assistance." I winced when he said the word ' boyfriend'. The thought of Elvis being my boyfriend was a little pleasurable but also very saddening. " He isn't my boyfriend." I said quietly. His voice rose, " He isn't?" "No." I whispered back. He got quiet for a while and I guess he seemed to realize I wasn't in the mood for that. I consciously thanked him. " My name is Aaron." He broke the ice. I smiled and said " My name is June." And he smiled. " June? What a purdy name! It's so... You." Confused I asked " What do you mean?" And he said " Your beautiful like the month of June. Your certainty warm like the month of June." " thank you." I said.

He walked me home, and unfortunately, he didn't live here. He said his goodbyes and he chuckled when he said goodbye. " Whats so funny?" He shook his head but he said " I want to see you again." I rose my eyebrows and reluctantly said " I don't know. Maybe some other time." He looked down to my foot and pointed " you better get some ice on that, you hear?" I nodded and pushed him away. " Goodbye Aaron." He walked away waving his hand, like he thinks he's a badass. I rolled my eyes and retreated home.

I stayed home the next few days because my foot became as swollen as a foot swollen with elephantitis. Just kidding, it was just swollen and my mother wouldn't let me even walk. My dad, upset about it said something like how ' this had never happened back home.' I just rolled my eyes and ignored him.

My parents had gone to work the next day when I heard the door bell ring. That was weird because nobody knew where I lived. I opened it to see Aaron smiling back at me. " June right?" He pointed. I countered " No, it's July." And he chuckled while looking at the ground. " I just came to check on you. I mean your foot." He said. "Oh." I looked at my swollen foot. " Yeah, It's getting better." He just stood smiling and when I offered him a seat, he gladly came in. He looked around and sat on the couch, the same place Elvis once did. I opened the fridge to check what he wanted to drink. " Hey, what do you wanna drink?" I shouted. " Water." I heard a whisper right next to my ear. I yelled and almost slipped when he caught me in his arms. I immediately got up and punched his chest. " Uncool." I growled. Between laughing and choking on his spit all I could make out was " Oh my gravies." I think that's what he said. I quickly made his water and instead of throwing it his face, I handed it to him. I walked to my room to play a record when he followed. I opened my drawer filled with a sea of Frankie when he grabbed my hands lifted my chins so that I was staring back at his beautiful warm blue eyes. He was half smiling and he apologized. " Hey, I'm sorry. That was funny." When he noticed my expression he said " But that was uncool."

I asked what he was really here for. " I told you, I came to check on you." He sincerely said. He stood up and grabbed my hands and said " dance with me?" Remembering the last time I dance I shook my head and said " I don't know how." He clicked his tongue and got me up with one hand. He got us in a waltz position and I followed his feet. He wasn't quite as comfortable as Elvis but he was comfortable nevertheless. He was warmer than I expected. We danced and danced until the song that played when me and Elvis danced came on. Overwhelmed with emotions I stopped and he asked " What's the matter? Is it your feet?" He bent to examine it. " No, it's fine. I need you to leave." I quickly walked across to open the door. " What did I do wrong?" He quizzed, confused and slightly hurt. " Please, just leave." I said looking down so he wouldn't see my tears. He frowned and stood but then turned. Although it hurt when I closed the door on his confused face, I couldn't let him see me crying.

He stood for a long time outside the door until it got dark. Then he just turned around and put his pocket in his hands, walking away. For some reason, I looked up and saw Elvis, on the top floor. He watched Aaron walk away. His eyes were so cold, they were nearly frozen. He frowned and then his expression turned sad. He gripped the railing so hard his knuckles were white. Suddenly, he turned to look at my door and I quickly closed the curtains. I didn't want him to see me. I stood, holding my breathe, and when I looked again, he disappeared. I sighed and sat back down on the couch. Tomorrow, I was going to go see Mama.
