June: A shock to remember

Earlier today, I went to Mama's house to tell her I was coming by later. My mom and dad weren't gonna be home till late and I didn't want to be alone. Outside her door, I could hear her humming to the soft radio. I knocked lightly and she yelled from inside, " Hold on, I'm coming." She shut the radio off and opened her door while dusting away flour from her dress. " Honey, if you forgot something you should've-" and she looked up to see me. I giggled and waved " Hi!" And she laughed a hearty laugh and said " Oh baby, I thought you was my son!" She let me in and shut the door. She sat me down on the chair and I sat examining the house once again. Her house reflected her. Warm, happy, light, and gentle. From inside the kitchen she spoke. " I thought you was my son-" I could hear banging, as if she was hitting the pots and pans together. She came back to question me. " Whatchu doing here today baby?" She quizzed. " I held my hands in my laps and said " Oh well, y'know, my parent aren't gonna be home today so I was wondering if I could have dinner here with you." As soon as I finished her sentence she said " Oh yes!" She yelped across the city. I laughed. Had I known she was such a joyous woman, I would've came long ago.

" My son gonna be happy to meet you." She stated, sipping her tea. I blushed and said " Oh Mama." She must've thought dearly of her son. " What's his name? I asked. " It's E-" her sentence was cut off when she looked at the time. " Oh dear, baby you gonna be late fer school!" She gasped. I looked at the time and sure enough it was 10 to the bell. I quickly thanked her for everything and ran out the apartment. I heard her hustling being me to wave me out the door. I said goodbye once again and running into the distance, I could hear her yelling " See you later honey!"

I didn't see Elvis today but I hung out with the girl and from the distance I saw Aaron. He looked busy so I didn't strike up a conversation. I got home later that day, a bit excited to go to Mama's house. I did chores to pass the time, I tried to take a nap and I even paced around in my room. I waited until it was 5 O'clock and got ready to go to Mama's house.

I put on a simple dress, white with a black belt. For some reason I got the feeling I should wear white. Then I applied some blush, and lip gloss. When I was ready I walked out my door and rushed across the lot, trying not to feel the chill in the air. I knocked on Mama's door and waited. She opened it up to reveal a kitchen full of the most unhealthiest food ever. I LOVED it! Mama practically dragged me in and have me about a million kisses. " Oh baby, I'm so glad you made it!" I giggled and said " Mama, Your the best. I couldn't stop thinking about tonight for some reason!" She giggled and said " Oh, I want you to meet my son." I fixed my dress and attempted to tame my hair. " Baby, come on out here now! Our guest is here!" She said winking at me. I smiled and looked down.

I heard footsteps approaching and I looked into the bright hallway. All their lights seemed to be on for some reason. The footsteps got closer and closer and for some reason, my heart seemed to beat at the same pace as his footsteps. To my most utter shock, Elvis Presley revealed himself to look at me in the same manner as I looked at him! He froze in his tracks and mama danced to his side and brought him closer, probably to introduce us. She looked at me, with her arms wrapped around Elvis and said " Let me introduce you guys!" She slapped Elvis' arm " This purdy little bug is June." And she looked at me and sang, " This is my Baby, Elvis!" I kept my eyes on the ground. I heard Mama furiously whispering in Elvis' ear to greet me properly. He took my hand in his and kissed it. " Hello, I'm Elvis Presley." He huskily croaked in his delicious southern accent. I cleared my throat and said " Hello. I'm June." I coughed up. Mama sat us down and said " Well, eat up."
