Elvis: The Tour
Our first destiny was to Louisiana. It was rather late when we arrived to a large hotel. Scotty, Bill and I got our own hotel room while the Colonel told us he had his " own affairs" to tend to. We shook hands and he said he wouldn't be back for several days with big news. Our hotel room was large, the living room had to be the size of both my kitchen and living room combined give or take a few furniture. It had a homey smell to it and the dominant colors were navy blue and light brown with small details of red, yellow, and dark brown. There was only, one room with 3 beds. 2 on one side, with space in between and the other bed on the other side. Bill jumped onto the nearest bed and kicked his shoes off. I shook my head and walked to the bed next to his while scotty had to stick with the bed across. I first sat down on my bed, feeling myself sinking down so my ass felt as if was on air. I kicked off my shoes and laid on the bed looking up at the ceiling. Bill started to snore as Scotty mumbled a goodnight in my direction. " ditto." I replied, and with that the conversation was over. Scotty fell asleep just as quick as Bill did and I was left in the dark.
I began to think about my last day home. When June offered herself to me so easily. When she argued against my attempts to protect her innocence. I chuckled quietly. I can't say it didn't make me feel smug. Or a little excited myself but June isn't ready. And neither am I. When I look over our time together, I was an insolent fool, who knew nothing except the concept of family. June however taught me there was more to life than just hatred for anyone who I feel overpowers me. It's natural. There will always be someone better than me. I am so thankful for her and sleeping with her would feel as if I am taking advantage of her. I told her I loved her. It was the first time I told her explicitly and I could feel her emotions emanate towards my own. It was extreme self control to do so but when I arrive home I will make her mine. Already do I miss the sound of her voice.
While the Colonel did whatever, Scotty, Bill and I would go touring the city. We would always be back before midnight and Bill always has at least one or two chicks with him. Scotty and I were playing with a pack of cards one day when the Colonel barged into the room with a smile on his lips. He got us on the Louisiana Hayride and he made sure one of his pals would announce it on the radio. The whole week would be booked. The whole week. Scotty smiled at me and I laughed and shook his hand. The Colonel tilted his hat in my direction and said " Get ready, your first show is tonight." I stopped laughing and looked at Scotty. He only punched my arm. " Gee, thanks Colonel." My voice exceptionally high due to my excitement. He chuckled leaving the room, " My boy, my boy." When he disappeared, we broke down our door open and Bill was asleep with a girl. She had her back facing us, as well as her cheeks. I rushed over to Bill's side, shaking his shoulders. " Bill get up we got a show!" I yelled. Groggily, he sat up and yawned. I retreated to my bed. " Get that lady lost." I mumbled as I heaved my suitcase onto my bed.
Later that night, before it was my turn to go on stage, I stood by the curtains and looked into the crowd. It was more than I'd seen before. I was nervous by the time I was called up. As I walked into the bright light, I heard shushing and murmuring. I swallowed my nervousness but I could still feel myself sweating beneath my pink jacket. I stopped in front of the microphone and sighed. Some of the girls giggled. I pointed to Bill and he began the beat to Blue moon of Kentucky. I glanced at Scotty and he winked to me in reassurance. Then I looked back into the crowd and began to sing. My legs began to move themselves and the crowd began to scream. Confused, my legs began moving faster and I began to dance. The girls moved closer and screamed louder. The whole next hour, I was constantly being screamed at. Before the last song I walked off stage while the women still wailed. I found the owner sitting by himself near the ropes. " What are they hollering at?" I breathed at him, fixing my hair from all the dancing. " Why son, they scream every time you shake your legs! Go back and keep doing what you was doing." He said pushing me back in the direction of the stage. Once into view, the crowd screamed again, louder if possible. I sang the last song and quickly ran out of the stage, right into our car that was waiting outside.
