Growing up

Chapter 5

The movie had action, and weapons, and the kids loved it!

As Lance watched, he punched and kicked as if he too was trying to fight. Lance ended up hitting everyone around him and Shiro had to hold him. Lance only continued to try and fight like the characters in the movie, but he stopped.

Hunk threw a few kicks and punches as he watched. Hunk was wowed by the cool machinery that was used and wondered about different machines that could've been used.

Pidge and Keith were just as wowed as Hunk and were geeking out over other things in the movie. The longer the watched, the more interesting it got. One of the main characters was standing in darkness and talking to a voice, but then suddenly...

AAAAAAAAA!

A huge, scary face appeared on screen and it was loud as it yelled. Everyone jumped back in surprise, the kids more shocked than the adults.

Pidge and Keith were sitting on either side of Caran, and they sat on the left side of the couch. The couch was a sectional, so the three sat in the corner. When the face appeared, Pidge and Keith clinged to Caran. After about two seconds, Keith snapped into a defensive position.

Lance, who was in Shiro's arms, went deeper into Shiro's grasp and then crawled to hide behind his head. Hunk, who was Allura's lap, jumped and turned to hug Allura. She gladly accepted and rubbed his back to calm him down.

"I think we can stop here." Shiro said as he paused the movie and got ahold of Lance.
"I think they've had enough..." Allura continued to calm Hunk.
"Well we can always continue tomorrow!" Caran said cheerfully as he plucked Pidge of of his side.

The sudden movements had set Keith off and he started to throw harmful kicks and punches. Shiro handed Lance over to Allura and got to Keith. He let the others do their thing while he did his, calm Keith.

"I could start dinner." The clock read 6: 10 and Allura knew that no one would really eat much dinner because they had a s*** load of popcorn.
"Allow me." Caran stood up to head to the kitchen.
"I think the snacks and drinks were enough." Shiro walked over with Keith holding his hand. Keith wasn't fully calm yet, so Shiro couldn't let him loose.
"So what do we do?"
"I don't know...play a game maybe?"
"Do we have any games?"lura
"Why yes! Over here!"

Caran walked over to where he was sitting and continued to the corner of the room by it. He opened a door to a cabinet and showed all of the board games. They picked out one the kids might enjoy. It has big parts to it because it was a kids game.

"Uh, I don't know about that one. Keith isn't fully calm yet, and I don't want to get him riled up again. Is there something calmer and quieter?"
"Hmmm, let me see. ... Ah yes! We have cards and puzzles!"
"Perfect."

They played with cards and Lance made it competitive. Keith started to stray away from being somewhat calm and Shiro had to take him away for a few minutes to calm him down again. Lance got in trouble and they switched to doing a puzzle.

When Keith and Shiro returned, they joined in. Pidge slid over a line a puzzle pieces to Keith next to her and other pieces she thought were supposed to fit with them. Keith gladly took them and started to calm down as he worked with the pieces.

Shiro noticed this and tapped Allura on the shoulder. (He was sitting next to Allura, Hunk, Lance, Caran, Pidge, and then Keith on his other side.)

Allura saw how Keith was focusing and calming down by working with the puzzle pieces. Before Allura could comment, gasps were herd next to her. She turned and saw Lance, Hunk, and Caran looking at the floor for a moment before setting into motion. Lance had tried to pick up a chunk of a the puzzle and connect it to the rest of the puzzle, but he dropped it on the floor. 

Pidge and Keith just looked up and starred at the trio on the floor. Keith was completely calm, but the commotion made him move into a more stable position. Shiro motioned for Keith but was very surprised. Pidge continued to do her part of the puzzle while Keith joined her.

"Lance, you need to learn to be more careful." Caran helped Lance pick up his mess.

"You turied." Hunk said as he patted Lance on the back and helped too.

Once the mess was picked up, they proceeded with the puzzle. At about an hour later, they finished. The clock read 7: 20. It was probably best if they started cleaning up and sending the kids to bed.

Allura and Shiro got onto the nightly routine and got the kids to bed fairly quickly. Allura gave each of the kids a good night kiss and Shiro patted their heads and ruffled their hair. They left the kids to rest and joined Caran downstairs. 

"They're so precious."

"I know."

"I think Keith found something to help him calm down."

"The puzzle?"

"Yeah. But what if it was something that had to do with the puzzle?"

"Maybe. I was going to take him to a few places."

"What do you mean?"

"What places?"

"Well... You might want to take a seat..."
