Aspen left soon after her finished making a show with his dragon. Elisa had a smug look on her face, self-satisfaction at its highest degree. Raphael realized that all this time he had been shrugging her off as an airhead, someone who knew nothing but pretty dresses and fancy parties. But she turned out to be much more than that. He finally was able to see the real intelligence behind her green eyes. Every move she made was calculate; she waited until the best possible moment to make this announcement. She must now that he had put Andreas out of commission. She needed to cause fear among the sorcerers, and with the most powerful one out of the way, the rest would tremble in fear.

“Why are you telling me all of this?” Raphael finally asked.

“Because I don’t plan on killing you, Raphael. I have gotten used to your presence at court and I wanted to ask you and your followers to join me. I will guarantee your safety… for all of you.”

Raphael pulled his hand through his hair. “I will have to discuss this with them first. I may be the leader, but I cannot make decisions like this without at the very least consulting them.”

Elisa smiled brightly. “Of course, you may discuss it with your followers. But I’m not going to be waiting forever for your answer. I already have ten dragon lords at my disposal, and we are locating new ones every day. There will come point where I no longer need you and decide to withdraw my offer.”

“I understand. I will make haste with the decision.”

Elisa smiled and walked over to Raphael, completely starting is him when she placed a kiss on his cheek. “I do want you on my side, remember that,” she whispered before pulling away and leaving the room. Raphael was left there with wide eyes and conflicting emotion. He would need to call a meeting again like he had all those years ago that led to the discovery of the prophecy.

He waited until all the guards left the throne room and then disappeared. In mere seconds he was standing in his living room. He decided he’d check on Lana before making further plans. Before he could even start walking the stairs Eric came running from them frantically.

“She’s gone.”
