Casian ran to Argento’s side. He was standing right next to Aska, both of them cowering away from the larger, approaching beast. Kalen wanted to run to their aid as well, but a sharp pain shot from his chest. The adrenaline that had kept the pain at bay earlier, was starting to fade, and Kalen doubted that he would be much use in this fight any further. He clutched his chest, but stayed in place. He would not seek the safety of the manor, even while injured. He would stay out here and lend the remainder of his strength to whomever would need it.
He noticed the dragon girl on her knees a few feet from where Raphael and Eric were struggling against Aspen. Something glinted in her hands, and all her attention was focused on the humongous beast threatening Casian and the other two dragons.
She slowly got to her feet, and Kalen watched her with a new found curiosity. Why was she helping them? That was a mystery he needed to solve. Her black hair, with hints of purple at the edges, whipped with the wind as she stalked toward the dragon. Her movements were slow and precise, and she was careful not to make a single noise. Kalen noticed what she was doing. She was going to attack the dragon. And if the dragon got even a whiff of that plan, it would be ruined. He needed to help.
Taking a deep breath to gain some much needed strength, he darted to where the other two dragons and Casian were, causing as much noise as he possibly could to keep the dragon’s attention away from the girl with the daggers. Casian eyed him curiously as he fell in next to him. “What are you doing?”
Kalen flailed his arms around, yelling as loudly as he could. The dragon eyed him with furrowed eyebrows, and momentarily stopped his pursuit. Kalen angled his face toward Casian and spoke as quietly as the distance between them would allow so that Casian could still hear what he had to say. “Keeping the dragon’s attention.” He gestured at Roxi with his eyes, and realization hit Casian. He joined in, but took it a step further. He started dancing, waving his behind at the dragon, his tongue sticking out, tainting.
The dragon quickly shook off his confusing and started moving toward them again, his speed increased this time.

Roxi was momentarily stunned at the display from the two males who had joined the dragons. They were dancing and shaking their butts like mad people and making the weirdest noises. It took her a while to realize that they were providing a distraction to Timophy. They must have sensed what she was planning on doing and decided to help out. She smirked at the realization. Their distraction would prove to be quite useful.
She dropped into a crouch, and was careful to take small, silent steps toward Timophy. All she had to do was get on his back and angle her dagger over his eyeball. Simple enough. The daggers were enchanted, and while they could hurt a dragon lord, it could harm a dragons severely, even kill if they were used correctly.
Roxi avoided most of the dry leaves that would crunch beneath her feat, but the two males were making such fools of themselves next to Aska and the baby dragon, that Timophy could hardly pay any attention to her.
She stopped when got so close to her father’s dragon that she could almost touch him. If only she had a way to get onto Tim’s head before he felt her. Being a sorceress would have come in handy right about now. Her gaze drifted over to where her father was fighting Raphael and the other young man. The younger man was knocked out of the fight, stumbling to the side. She caught his eye and gestured for him to come over to her quietly. Raphael was keeping Aspen too busy to notice the exchange and the man started tripling over to Roxi.
Her heart started pounding with nerves. She didn’t want to hurt Tim. It was the last thing she ever wanted to do. He was more family to her than her own father was. But she didn’t have a choice, and Timophy was just going to have to understand that. She promised herself that one day, she would make it up to him. One day, he would be free of her father.
