Valencia Carter
"Get your ass up. You're not about to be sleeping in here all day." My father came into my room snatching the covers off of me.
I was going to go to Saadia's house, but then I realized I didn't want to be bothered with her. Plus, she wouldn't do anything but get in my last nerve.
"Dad, leave me alone." I pulled the covers back over my head.
"Who are you talking to?"
"Nobody. Daddy I'm tired." I whined.
"Valencia, I'm not playing with your ass. Get up."
Maybe I should've went to Malina's to get a peaceful sleep. I huffed, sitting up in the bed to see my father still standing there with his arms crossed.
"You realize you have none of your stuff." He pointed out. I don't even have my phone charger.
"Well I was hoping my lovely father-"
"No." He cut me off.
"But daddy I-"
"You know you were also wrong, right? You can't put your hands on a man and expect him not to retaliate. Men can tolerate so much and some have a lower tolerance than others. And Val, you don't hit like a girl either." He said making me roll my eyes.
"I know that-"
"Good, so you'll be going back to get your own stuff if you do plan on moving out."
"Are you gonna go with me?"
"Nope, I have to go to work. Breakfast is on the counter." He left without another word.
"Breakfast is on the counter." I mocked him while getting out of the bed.
I went downstairs to the kitchen to see what he cooked, but instead I saw Malina looking in all of the pans making her a plate.
"And how did you get in here?" I took her plate for myself making her smack her lips.
"Your dad let me in on his way out." She sat with me at the island when she finished making another plate. "You look horrible."
"Thank you Malina." I said sarcastically.
"Sebastian told me what happened-"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Well you kind of have to when there's a child involved. You two are still acting like how you were before Elias was born, selfish. You're only thinking about yourselves and it's not about you."
"Malina, I know." I mumbled.
"Good so since you know, go get dressed."
"Where are we going?"
She dug inside her purse and jiggled my keys in front of my face. I snatched them out her hand and tossed them on to the island.
"Valencia listen, as your best friend I'm supposed keep it real with you. You're getting on my nerves." She said, which caught my by surprise a little.
"What?"
"Sebastian really cares about you, he might even love you. What man buys his baby mama her dream business? You better gain some common sense and stop the childish games."
"Whatever Malina."
"Get dressed."
"I'm not going." I told her before eating a spoonful of my grits.

"Hurry up and get out." Malina practically pushed me out of her car.
