"MEOW!!!" Jamie yelled at a woman in a skin tight red dress on her way pass our table. I cover my mouth to stiffle my laugh when the woman jumps in fright. My dad just drops his head onto the table and laughs out loud.
"You girls are so out of control," My dad says between laughs. I punch him lightly in the arm and smile at him cheekily.
"But, you love us!" I say still smiling.
"That I do. Happy sixteenth birthday Rose," My dad pulls me into a tight hug.
"Hey, don't leave me hanging!" Jamie steps onto the table and crosses it jumping onto my back. "FAMILY HUG!"
"I love you guys so much!" I laugh and the whole prestigous restaurant goers just stare at us in disbelief.
Jamie glares at them. "Hey do you wanna turn into a frog?" She asks the general population and they snort.
"Didn't think so. SO STOP STARING YOU BUNCH OF MONKEYS!" Jamie yells at them standing on the table.
"Jamie get down," I laugh.
"What? They want to look so I'm giving them something to look at." Jamie huffs shooting the crowd the middle finger before jumping down off the table.
I look to the side to see about 4 waiters and the manager of the restaurant making their way towards us. The looks in their eyes couldn't kill kittens.
"Girls?" Jamie and I turn towards our father's amused face. "Run for it!" My dad turns and runs and we follow in his lead. He jumps over a chair and weaves through a crowd of people situating themselves at a table.
"WOOHOO!!!" Jamie yells throwing a fist in the air as she runs and I laugh bumping her with my shoulder. "Woah, woah, woah, play fair sweetheart," Jamie jumps onto my back and gives a war cry.
My dad gets to the restaurant doors and holds it open as Jamie and I make our way through it. We reach the car and me and Jamie pile into the backseat as my dad pulls quickly out the parking lot.
"This is the best birthday ever!" I laugh clutching at my sides.
"Happy sweet sixteenth sweetie," My dad smiles at me through the rear view mirror and I smile back.
"Okay it's cake time," I lean back in my seat and close my eyes imagining a deliscious cake.
"Any suggestions on where I should pick up this cake?" My dad asks.
"Bruster's," My mouth waters at the thought of one of their yummy Oreo Ice Cream cakes.
A few minutes later my dad pulls into the Bruster's parking lot and walks up to the window to order the cake I want. Jamie and I get out the car and sit on one of the many benches that surround the Bruster's area.
"So how was it?" Jamie asks.
"How was what?"
"The place mom took you," Jamie says.
"It was horrible. I wouldn't make it in there. I feel like I'd kill myself first," I sigh and lean back on the wooden bench.
"What if I told you I'm doing everything in my power to make mom throw me in there instead of you?" Jamie looks down at me.
"I'd say like hell you are," I jump up. "Stop trying to help Jamie. You're my little sister, I'm not yours. Let me handle this myself. Stop drawing attention to yourself. Go back to being the sweet innoccent little girl that you were. Let me worry about you." I stare right into her unique gray eyes that match mine. "Just stop. Be fourteen again."
"Absolutely not," Jamie says cooly and crosses her toned legs. "Stop trying to push me away and sit down. We are going to have cake and enjoy it because it's going to be f*ck!ng deliscious." My dad comes back carrying the box of cake and three forks.
"Dig in," he hands us each a fork and opens the cake up. I immediately reach for the oreo and scrape some icing onto it. I bite into the sugary yummy-ness.
"Mmmm...." We all say in union as we take our first bites.
"Thank you dad!" Jamie and I scream and tackle him into a hug. What can I say; we are just alike despite the age difference.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Liam sings over the phone. I pull the phone away from my ear.
"How did you get my number?" I glare at the phone like it's his face.
"No matter how prehistoric phone books are, they are very useful." I can practically feel Liam's smile through the phone.
"Do me a favor and lose my number," I smirk.
"Not before I get a date. How about tonight?" Liam asks.
"Even if I did say yes. I can't because school starts tomorrow," I grimace at the thought of having to go back to that hellhole of a school where I'm an outcast. The only good thing is that Jamie is finally joining me at Albert B. High School this year.
"Albert B.?" Liam asks.
"Yes," I answer.
"Cool that's the school my mom has me attending! I hate being the new guy though. Atleast I will have a friend," Liam says.
Oh great. "You don't want to be friends with me. I'm the outcasted freak," I shrug sadly.
"No way! A girl as beautiful as you should not be outcasted." Liam says a little angrily. "You are not a freak." If only you knew.
"You're just blind. I'm not beautiful."
"I'm getting off the phone now because you just upset me with the spout of negativity. Trust me you are one of the most beautiful girls I've ever met." He won't be saying that when he sees the beautiful girls at my school that just shadow me.
"Bye Liam," I hang up the phone and go to my room. I toss and turn with the constant thought of attending school again. I already know that I will have another year of bullying and ridicule and gossip because of who I am. I already know I will hate it. I already know that when Liam hears what the kids at school say about me he will avoid me like the plague. I already know this is going to be another depressingly stressful year. I don't want to be a junior. I want to be a freshman like Jamie. I want that fresh start like she gets.
I roll out of bed and tiptoe into Jamie's room across the hall. I crawl into her bed and curl up next to her.
"What are you doing in here?" Jamie yawns.
"Trying to sleep," I snap and close my eyes.
"It's going to be okay, Rose." Jamie whispers and hugs me.
Tears sting at my eyes. "Goodnight Jamie,"
"Night."
