I sit there on the floor crying for what feels like another 30 days but could not have been more than 2 hours when Jamie walks through the front door chanting.

"SET THE ANIMALS FREE!! LET THEM ROAM!" Jamie dances into the living room and I lift my head up from my knees to look at her. "BREAK IT DOWN NOW!" Jamie starts doing the robot while putting down several pet supplies and several pets.

Maybe I can sneak out of here without her noticing me. I get onto my hands and knees and start crawling towards freedom. I'm almost to the hallway that would make me out of sight for Jamie to see but then she jumps onto my back and my hands and knees go sprawling in different directions until I face plant the floor.

"Get off of me," I mumble into the carpet and she wiggles on top of me, in the midst of her dance she leans down and screams in my ear. I yell in surprise and she jumps off of me backpedaling until she reaches the boxes she set down.

"So...you're on YouTube," she slurs out as she opens a box to reveal her ball python.

I freeze as I try to stand. "Who told you?"

"That's not important.  Just know I know." She lifts a box carefully that displays a picture of some type of glass habitat. "What's it about?" Jamie asks.

On my feet I just stare at her. "What do you mean what's it about?"

"Wow sis, you're slower than you look," Jamie sighs. "What's in the video?"

"Me..." I mumble.

"And?" Jamie prompts.

"A toilet," I snap. "What do you want me to say?"

"Tell me what you think that video meant," she sits down to stare at me.

"It showed me how pathetic I am. It showed me how right mom is. It's scary," I sigh.

"Alright Ms. I'm- just-going-to-feel-sorry-for-myself, but that is not what I saw in that video."

"What else is there to see?" I question.

"Well first things first mom is an absolute asshole. Secondly, it showed how much you have changed. A few months ago you probably would have went ape on all those losers, or you would have left the school. Look how strong you have gotten," she gets to my body. "I mean look at you."

I look down at myself and see no physical changes to my physique except a couple of pounds I gained - but I doubt Jamie would be cruel enough to point out my weight gain in a situation like this.

"On the inside you're so beautiful it hurts. I want to be like you. I want to shine that bright." Jamie whispers with sad eyes.

"James I-" I'm cut off by a soft meow.

Jamie's smile stretches across her face. "Want to meet your new kitty?" Her smile is so contagious that my lips twitch up into one as well. Jamie crawls to the crate and flicks the lock open. she reaches both arms in to reveal a tiny ball of white fur. When I reach for the kitten Jamie tells me I have to be really careful with her. I nod in agreeance. Once the kitten touchdowns in my outstretched hands I realize that something is wrong. I shift her fur and am only greets with 3 little white legs. Two in the back and one in the front. Her blue diamond eyes blink up at me and she meow softly.

I cuddle her to my chest. "What happened to her?"

"Her umbilical cord got wrapped around her leg before birth and it cut off circulation. So when she was born the leg was defected. The only option was amputation." Jamie explains reaching over to pet her fur down. "I thought you'd like her. You both have no choice about how you are, yet you're still perfect."

"She is perfect," I mumble.

"What will you name her?" Jamie lifts herself up off the floor.

I look down at the teasing kitten in my arms as I pet her softly. "How about Hayes?"

"Damn I was thinking shark. But Hayes is great too," Jamie laughs.

"Hi Hayes," I whisper and she meows up at me. "You're so perfect."

The next day at school Liam greeted me with a hug in front of our entire first period. I tensed under the weight of his arms.

"What are you doing?" I push him away gently.

"Not a morning person, huh?" He smiles at me before taking his seat. I scoff. "So Jamie came to my house yesterday and gave me a finch."

"Really?" I stare at him. "Why?"

"I'm actually still not very sure, but her reasoning was I look like an Owl type of guy. But since she obviously cant get me an owl she settled for a finch because they are songbirds and are watched for entertainment and she said that I look like a guy that sings in the shower-which I am strangely enough." He smiles throughout the whole explanation. "Should I be insulted?"

"Probably not. Jamie is just Jamie. She means well most of the time." I laugh.

"She's very deceptive," Liam tells me and I laugh harder.

"That literally may be her middle name."

Dr. Simms enters the classroom and drops her planner on her desk as usual. "How about we get this day over with?!"
