"Did you have another dream about lover boy?" Melissa asked as I sat down in the passenger seat of her old beat up Jetta. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her. She grinned as I gave her the 'do not ask me' look but knowing Melissa she wasn't about to let me off the hook that easily. She had been my best friend for as long as I could remember, and she was one of the only people who knew about the bizzare dreams that taughnted me. Even if she did think the kid was gorgeous and would do anything to get at him. For as long as I had remembered, the dreams happened. He would lead me around, play a game of hide and seek but he would never get very close to me. At least he wouldn't, the past few months he's been getting closer, and if it was up to Melissa she would have kissed him already or confessed her love for somebody who truthfully didn't exist.
"Yeah, obviously." I added as she gave me her lost puppy look. I couldn't help but laugh at the look that was on her face. You'd think I was witholding important information from her in a life or death situation, but that was my best friend for you. If you didn't tell her everything that was going on she'd instantly be offeneded, or she'd give you a peice of her mind.
"Dana, come on your seriously not going to tell me?" She pouted as the Jetta stopped at a red light.
"I'm seriously going to kill you if you don't stop looking at me like that." I joked as she pulled away from the light. She giggled as we reached the school parking lot.
"Dana, you have to tell me. I mean you actually get to see this gorgeous guy every night and you are going to not share it with you're best friend? That should be like illegal, at least I think it should be." she said as a bright smile crossed her face. She was still staring at me with a puppy dog look when I reached the school steps.
"Alright! Fine, I'll tell you on our way to class," I started as she jumped up and clapped her hands together, lacing her arm through mine. "But if you say anything in class, I will kick your ass."
"Why so violent?" She muttered as she bobbled ahead of me on the way to class. Her red hair tied back into a high pony tail, swishing back and forth almost hitting me in the face everytime she jumped up or got excited about what I was saying. Each time I gave her a sturn look and she calmed down, but only for a short moment.
"Alright, so what does that all mean?" She asked with a confused look on her face. Her freckles were standing out now, her green eyes watching me intently. The school bell rang indicating that class was starting, giving her a shrug she rolled her eyes. "You are going to tell me, at lunch." She began before her teacher gave her a look and she headed into her class. I smiled to myself and wondered what she was expecting me to say, I didn't understand what was happening. Let alone what I was going to do about it, or what was happening.
The school day dragged on for what seemed to be forever. I finished explaining to Melissa everything that happened last night, but it seemed the more I talked about it the more I was leaving out. When the bell for last period rang I was greatful to use it as an excuse to escape. Grabbing my last period book I headed towards class thinking about everything that was happening in my life so far and I knew I was probably going to end up in a straight jacket. I found myself half way through class bored out of mind, looking back at the clock after what seemed like an eternity, only to see that less than one minute had gone by.
I found myself tapping my pen on my binder effectivly earning me one seriously scary stare from Mr. Atwater. "Ms. Wildmark, could you please. For the love of all that's good, stop it with that pen. Don't make me give you a detention for something so stupid." He sad as the class snickered at his comment. I rolled my eyes, mumbling a 'sorry' as he grumbled something under his breath, going back to scribbling on the board. The bell sounded what seemed like three hours later, and I jumped out of my chair heading to the school parking lot to meet up with Melissa.
