My mother stood in the doorway, her white robe wrapped around herself. I waited to hear her freak out about having a boy in my room but she said nothing. In fact it was like he was a old time friend, and she made nothing out of it, which sent a shiver through my body.

"Prince Gage, we meet again. I see you have excellent timing." My mother stated, a poker face as she looked between Gage and myself.

"Hello, Anastasia. I came for Diana. I just didn't realize, how little you had informed her of her heritage she has. Would you care to explain to your child." He said.

"I didn't believe that was part of the bargin. Must it be explained to her? Your father did not mention a thing about explinations." I looked at my mother, my blood in my veins running cold. I knew she was hiding something.

"Uhm, hello? Hi, yeah I'm still here." I said. My mother glanced in my direction and shook her head.

"What do you want to know?" She said feeling as if I was treading on forbbiden waters. I waited a few moments before I decided to open my mouth again.

"Is he telling the truth? Should I listen to him?" I asked.

My mother grinned. "Obviously."

Gage grimaced. "Enough, the bargin did not include your smugness either. I have come to collect the debit you owe us. You should have known that running from us only makes it worse for you and her in the long run."

"Take the brat." She snapped.

"What the hell!" I yelled. Gage looked at me and than at my mother who was now and her way out of my bedroom. I leaped towards her only to have an arm of steel wrap around my waist, as he pulled me back. I felt my heart colapse in my chest, my throat and eyes burned. I watched as she walked out, without giving me a second glance, and the moment she left, I knew she was never coming back.

"I hate her," I said a tear falling down my face. After all she had done this had to be the worst. We always expect our parents to protect us from those scary stories, the things that go bump in the night, yet my Mother had just sold me like a loaf of bread; without a second glance or hesitation.

I was sligtly more aware of Gage's arm still wrapped around me. I looked at his arm and relaxed, as he loosened his grip in response. He had a sad look on his face, the pity for what he had just witnessed. I couldn't help but give him a dirty look, he smiled in return but waited a moment before he tried to speak again.

"Do you want me to explain on the way there?" He asked.

I sent him a cold look. "You mean you don't have magic just to poof us to wherever it is you are taking me?"

He grinned. "No. We need to walk,"

I rose an eyebrow, crossing my arms over my chest. I was not about to walk, let alone with him to a place I had no idea where it was. The last time I was actually active was in my freshmen year physical education class, and even then it was a pain in my ass. "Halfway I'd hope," I muttered.

He grinned. "Oh, of course." I looked back at the door and I felt anger creeping into my chest one more time. My Mother had always been distant but this was the last straw for me. If she wanted distance between the two of us, then distance was exactly what she was going to get.

"When do we leave?" I asked.

Startled he looked at me. "Whenever your ready," He shrugged.

I wanted to leave right then, but Gage said I was simply acting out of anger and he wanted to make sure that I was actually serious about it. The night passed in a blur, and as much as I wanted to stay up and pry for more information I didnt manage to get very far. Gage wasn't about to hand me all the details on a silver dish, which he had no problem informing me of either.
