Hermione found herself shy at telling her friends about Remus. And somehow, she couldn't bring herself to tell them. It just never exactly fitted in the conversation. They teased her about him because of the not-so-false-anymore rumours, and Hermione blushed but didn't deny it. None of her friends noticed that, so why tell them so suddenly? It wasn't that she was ashamed or anything, it was just that she was shy. She didn't want everyone to know.

Remus was facing the same difficulty. His friends didn't ask, so he didnt tell. He knew this couldn't last for long, but at least he and Hermione could enjoy the privacy whilst it lasted.

Yet they hardly had had a moment alone since Saturday, so they merely stole glances at each other from across the room during lessons.

Unfortunately, this didn't go unnoticed. And of all people to be watching Remus and Hermione, Sirius examined them in confusion. During Potions class, Remus kept turning back to look at Hermione, and she would smile knowingly back, her eyes twinkling. Sirius watched them dismally. On Thursday afternoon Sirius asked James about Remus and Hermione.

"Do you think there's something going on between them?" he asked.

"Remus and Hermione? They're just rumours, I think."

"But they kept looking at each other, sort of knowingly."

James snorted. "Just ask Remus. Why would you care anyway? You over protective of Remus... or maybe even Hermione?"

"Shut up!"

"Even if they're going out, there's plenty of other fish in the sea. You dont really like like her, do you?"

"What? Are we twelve now? And no."

"Come on Sirius, you may have gone out with thirty girls already, but there's got to be someone in our year who you havent dated yet!"

"Hermione, Lily, Emma. I don't know."

"What about Marlene?"

Sirius raised his eyebrows. "Nah. I don't know..."

"There'll be someone, but ask Remus first."

It was two hours later when Sirius, James, Remus and Peter were lounging in the Common room.

"Hey, Moony. What's going on with you and Hermione?" Sirius asked suddenly as he played Exploding Snap with James.

Remus blinked. "Err... well actually..."

"Oooohh!" Peter interrupted "You're going out, aren't you?"

"Well that's one way to say it." Remus sighed.

"Wait, what?" Sirius said, laying down his card absent mindedly.

"Hermione and I are 'together'."

Suddenly, the cards exploded as James slammed his card down, causing Sirius to shout in shock as his eyebrows singed.

"You're actually going out with Hermione?" Sirius questioned.

Remus nodded.

Sirius's heart dropped. And the only thing he found himself thinking was crap, crap, crap.

James looked at Sirius worrying, but stood to clap Remus on the back anyway. "Well done mate, you finally went and did it. Only me and Peter left now in the no-girlfriend-ever zone."

Remus smiled, and felt relief lift of his chest, he had told them. And that was that for now.

Hermione and her little group of friends walked into the Common Room not long afterwards, and they were greeted by James and Peter cheering. Hermione instantaneously blushed, whilst her friends looked confused.
