- Seven weeks later -
"I still can't believe you actually did it!" Lily said cheerfully.
"Neither can I," Sirius laughed quickly before James could reply to his date.
Yep, Lily and James were on a date!
A double date in fact, with Sirius and Hermione.
Lily had kept her side of her bet with James. He hadn't so much as said a word to any of his bullying victims for the two months before their sixth year had ended. And now, on the first weekend of their seventh and final year, they were on a date to Hogsmead!
"Anything for you, Evans." James winked at her, as they headed towards the Three Broomsticks.
Lily rolled her eyes at him, suppressing a smile. It was hard not to smile at James. Even in this first week there had been a difference in his personality. He had somehow 'cooled off'. He seemed less irresponsible and immature, but he still had his trademark humour and had pulled off two pranks in the week. But that was part of what made him so likable. Not that Lily liked him, absolutely, certainly, definitely not. How could she even think he was in the slightest bit likable?
Lily, James and Hermione sat at a table in the Three Broomsticks as Sirius went to go and buy them drinks. He brought three Butterbeers and a Firewhisky for himself (he was of age after all, not that he hadn't had it when he wasn't of age). They drank awkwardly and made attempts at conversation. Then Peter and Remus came in, wolf whistling at them. James and Sirius both put their thumbs up, winking. Lily gave a snappy sigh, and James stopped immediately. Remus and Peter sat down near them, Remus looked a little strained, but it was no longer Hermione's job to notice.
"Want a sip?" Sirius asked Hermione cooly as he rested an arm on the back of his chair.
"No thanks." She replied.
Sirius smiled slightly at her. "Go on, Granger."
"I'm not allowed."
"Who's going to notice?" He said, nodding his head towards James and Lily who were caught up in a conversation.
Hermione grinned, took his drink and had a sip. Then a gulp. The alcohol burnt her throat slightly as she swallowed. She shivered. "That's good." She said.
Sirius smugly winked at her. "Good girls love a bad boy." He said.
"Shut up. No they don't."
"Yeah they do, you know why...?" Sirius asked huskily, leaning in towards her slightly.
It was all Hermione could do but crash her lips against his, but she contained herself. "carrying on talking and I'll have to slap you."
Sirius laughed. "Go ahead." He said.
Hermione raised her hand and lightly brushed his cheek in a mock smack. "No more good girls for you."
"So my good girl will be bad just for me?"
Hermione rolled her eyes. "Okay, really now shut up."
"Or what?"
"I don't know... just stop being an ass!"
Sirius smiled smugly and leaned back away. "Alright babe."
"Euh, that's disgusting. Never call me that again!"
"Alright honey."
"That's worse."
"Bae?"
"Merlin no!"
