School carried on as normal, or as normal as Wizarding schools go. The lessons droned on, Hermione studied hard, life went on as usual. And nothing interesting happened whats so ever.
Other than Sirius asking Hermione out on another date.
On the Friday of the second week of term Hermione had been sitting in the common room, as per usual, and, as per usual, the 'Marauders' decided to join them. Like every time before, they had an awkward conversation where Mary was almost completely silent and Marlene looked incredibly awkward, Lily was frustrated and bored, and Hermione was the one doing nearly all of the talking. James was attempting to hit on Lily, and everyone else watched in amusement. Finally, Lily lost her temper and shouted at him. James backed away, and Remus and Peter followed him. But Sirius stayed sat on the arm rest of Hermione's chair, so that his arse was uncomfortable close to her.
"Hey, Granger. I have something you might be interested in seeing." He said happily.
"Um okay. Where?" Hermione replied awkwardly.
"You'll see." He said, then he stood up and before Hermione could persist, he was leading her out of the Common room, with her friends giggles following them.
Sirius kept tight hold of her arm all the way down to the library, where he handed her a note that read:
I, professor McGonnagal, give permission for Hermione Granger and Sirius Black of sixth year to visit the Restricted Section.Hermione stared at Sirius. "I don't get it. Why would she give her permission to us?"
"She didn't. I forged it." Sirius said smugly as they walked over to the librarian. Hermione sighed and rolled her eyes, as thry handed the permission slip to the librarian, who said they could go through.
"Have you been in the Restricted Section before?" Sirius asked.
"No. I haven't needed to!"
Sirius smiled widely. "Perfect," he said.
They walked into the restricted section, which was considerably darker than the rest of the library.
"Why are we here?" Hermione asked.
"I wanted to show you the restricted section, something you hadn't seen before. And I prefer it when its quiet anyway. Oh, and here's the book Prongs and I found when we became Animagi. See, it tells you exactly how to do it..." Sirius bambled on as Hermione walked around the tall shelves, picking up books at random. She was just becoming emersed in a book with a passage about Nicholas Famel, when Sirius chuckled suddenly from directly behind her. She turned around, and his face was narrowly close to her own. She shuffled about awkardly.
"What is it?" She asked quietly.
"Nothing. Just watching you read," Sirius whispered in reply.
Hermione rolled her eyes. "That's a little creepy don't you think?" She whispered back.
"Not at all. I thought girls went in for that type of stalking," he joked, still whispering.
"Well I don't." She retorted as equally quietly.
Sirius breathed a slight laugh and stepped in closer. Far too close. Hermione's breath hitched in her throat for some reason.
"Hey, Granger." He whispered in a husky tone.
"Yeah,"
"Do you want to go out to Hogsmead next weekend?" He said.
Completely caught off by surprise, Hermione stepped back. "With you? Like a date?" She asked, no longer whispering.
"Yeah," Sirius replied, sounding annoyingly sure of himself.
Then Hermione gave a quick laugh. "Very funny, Black."
He blinked at her. "What?"
"Oh yes, you actually want to go out of me, and I'll surely say yes. What then? We'll have a happy happy relationship and then you'll cheat on me with one of my friends? Ha, I don't think so."
Sirius stared at her in utter disbelief. He struggled for words. "I... I wouldn't cheat on you..."
"Oh yeah? How many girls are you already seeing at the moment: three or four? Even if you were being serious then I wouldn't say yes."
"You went to the Christmas dance with me!"
"Yeah. That was hardly a date was it? And who else would I have gone with. That night just worked out, and as you know, we wouldn't."
Sirius made a choking sound, and they were both silent for a number of moments.
"Ha. Good job I was joking then." Sirius lied smugly. Even in his own head it sounded obvious that he was lying.
Hermione's mouth opened slightly in shock. "Wait... you actually meant it? You actually wanted to go on a date with me?"
Sirius shook his head violently. "As if! You're just a.. M-" Sirius caught himself off just in time.
"What were you going to call me?" She hissed.
"Nothing." Sirius replied arrogantly.
"You were going to call me a Mudblood, weren't you? I can't believe you! I know you're a hideous bully. I know you just play along with girls hearts and then brake them. I know the only people you care about are your friends. But I never thought you would judge someone by whether or not their parents were muggles or not!" Hermione snapped furiously, she turned on her heel and walked away quickly.
"No! Stop! I wasn't going to call you that. I'd never even say that word!"
"What were you going to call me then?"
"A... a mad bitch." Sirius admitted.
Hermione raised her eyebrows at him, pursing her lips so much that they were hardly even visible, and then she raced out of the library. Sirius sat on the floor for a number of minutes trying to coax himself. She's just a girl... she's just a normal, boring girl. She doesn't deserve my thoughts. Nevertheless, for the first time in forever, Sirius felt unsure of himself all because of this 'normal girl'.
Meanwhile Hermione raced back into the Common Room where her friends waited expectantly. She told them what happened hurriedly. And as friends always do, they hugged and comforted her and told her that he was nothing: he was far too normal for such an amazing, extraordinary girl.
AN: That was a really weirdly written chapter, idk. It was just weird. I don't know why I layed it out different today, but hey :3 and the argument was so cringey Euh thanks for reading!!
