It wasn't long before nightfall until I had finished packing my suitcases into the car. My favorite time to think to myself, this time I'd be fully awake and aware of my surroundings.

"Aria do you want the radio on? You're pretty quiet back there." My brother asked.

"No Nathan I'm fine with the quiet. " I told him as we began our over night drive to the new city.

Even though I wouldn't have minded the music playing, this time I wanted to stay awake for the entire drive which gave me time to think about the situation. This move was my chance to change everything. My new beginning I told myself. Unlike Nathan who was 22, I just turned 18 about 3 months ago.

A birthday I really wish I could forget but we'll talk more about that in the morning. Although I will miss the few friends I had in Ontario, I'm sure there will be new ones in Scarborough.

I get lost in my thoughts as I stare out the backseat window looking at the midnight blue & purple sky. Shades of purple were Ella's favorite. We were close friends who grew up in the same neighborhood. Although we had our differences, I tried to stay close. But our friendship soon faded away over one thing. Her loyalty.

I was 16 and it was her sweet sixteen that night. I had planned the entire party for her. It was going to be her special night. The whole thing was a surprise party and I told her to show up in the straight purple gown I bought for her.

"Where exactly are you taking me Aria? We've been in the car for an hour!" She said

I could tell she was excited but restless at the same time.

"We're almost there Ella. I promise."

"Okay but I told Jaydon that I'd meet him for 9 so let's hurry." She continued.

Jaydon was her current boyfriend. It was nothing much since they only got together a month prior. She gets really into her relationships but ends up being the drama queen when things don't work out.

"We're here! Hop out and follow me!" I said to her with a spring in my voice.

I couldn't wait for her to see the party. We approached the grand hall that i rented out for the night. Behind the enormous doors were our entire year group waiting on us.

As I pushed open the doors," Surprise!" Everyone shouted.

"Oh my God!" She exclaimed ,"Aria did you do all of this?"

"No it wasn't me. It was Casper the ghost." I said sarcastically. "Of course I did!"

"You are the best friend a sixteen year old could ask for! Thank you so much!" She frantically shouted.

She then ran of into the crowd and the party began. We all got lost in the loud music dancing the night away. No one was worrying about what was to happen the next day. We felt free and couldn't care less.

"Hey long time no see Aria!" A voice said as I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around. To my surprise it was Phoebe. Whom I forgot I actually invited. I had to anyway. She was really close with Ella. We had our own share of dramas but that's for later.

"Hey! How are things?" I said nervously over the loud music.

"Great, good. And how's your life going?" She asked.

"Good good." I replied.

"Nice party. Did you hire someone to do all of this?"

"Nope." I said "I did the whole thing just for Ella. We're really close nowadays." I said upfront.

Just as i finished that sentence, someone pulled me around.

"Hey!" Ella shouted.

"Hey we were just....." I tried to say. But before I could finish my sentence, she pushed me to the ground.

"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!" She yelled at me.

As I stumbled to get up from the floor in my heels as I said,"What's wrong Ella?"

"Jaydon just broke up with me because I missed our date at 9! Meanwhile I was buzy here beacuse of you!" She continued shouting.

"You're blaming me for this? I only tried to make your birthday special." I said scared since I've never seen her like this before.

"It's special alright! I'll never forget the night my best friend made my boyfriend dump me!" She exclaimed as she turned around and stormed out of the room slamming the doors behind her.

The music stopped and so did everyone else when they noticed something had happened. The crowd started to murmur and I became overwhelmed with fright and embarrassment. I ran out of the hall but not to look for Ella. We haven't talked since and I don't think we intend to.

"Aria, we're here!" Nathan told me, waking me from my daydream.

"Has it been 2 hours already?" I asked him.

"No we stopped for a fill up on gas. Do you want anything in the shop?"

"Yes a pillow. I don't think this all night thing is gonna work out" I said. I was ready to fall asleep in 5 seconds.

"I don't thing they sell pillows in a gas station Aria" He said in a joke sence.

"Well then I'm good. Wake me when we arrive at the house. Thanks" I said. Not to long after which I fell asleep.

Sleep is one of my escapes from my thoughts. It's one of the places where reality can't tell you what to do. Until I wake up. But until then I have the rest of the car ride.
