I wake up. All I can feel is pain. I look around. I’m in a dark room with no light whatsoever. I scream. Air doesn’t fill my lungs, so I choke. It’s like I’m underwater with no air around me. My lungs are burning now. I slowly get up. It’s all in your head. I start to run. This dream seems real. It might not even be a dream after all, sick twisted things happen in the world every day. I keep running. I’m pumping my arms so I can run even faster than usual. Then I hit something. A wall. You can wake up now, you know that. But I can’t wake up now. I found a ladder that goes right to the top. My lungs have almost given up now. They probably have, considering I have been running for a long time. I start to climb the ladder. I go step by step, as fast as I can. I start to see light at the top of the ladder. I climb twice as fast as I was to begin with. I just reached the top, but then something terrible happens. I fall. There is no wind rushing past me, no air to run my fingers through. Nothing. All I can do is brace myself for the landing.
