Next to last chapter. Kind of a filler chapter.
Peter's POV
"Hey, May." I said as I walked in, rubbing my arm. Man, Hawkeye CAN shoot.
"Hey, honey. How was....practise?" She forces the last word out as she turns to look at me, muting the broadcast of a protest rally.
"Eh, it was okay. Hawkeye shot me on my arm." I shrugged.
I should not have said that. I should not have said that. Wow, now I know how Hagrid felt in the Philosopher's Stone.
May looked at me wideyed, her glasses slipping down on her nose again, full of horror and alarm.
"WHAT? Sweetie, he shot you? With a bullet?" She springs up from the couch and snatches up my arm. Okay, it still hurts.
"With an arrow. He's an arrow guy. Besides, after that Spider bit me, I'm extremely fast healing and injuries don't hurt me as much as the average human. Don't worry, May." I smile at her, relieved to see some worry dissipate from her face.
"Oh, thank God. Please tell me your suit is bulletproof, honey."
Thankfully I didn't need to lie.
"It is......Um, I actually came to tell you something. I'm going...I mean, the Avengers...and me.....are um...er...kind of.... going to London." I am a coward.
She mimicked the action she makes when I say I need a new backpack.
"What? Peter, no. It's bad enough you're getting shot at and beaten up just to become stronger. I am not sending you to London. Why do you need to go anyway? The space prune wants to go to Hogwarts?" She fumed, her brown eyes flashing. She reminded me of Mom.
Oh, yeah. I'd told her about Thanos too. I really cannot keep a secret.
"No. Um. It's just convenient, Okay? I can't say anything more than I already have. I shouldn't have told you his name or the fact that he looks like a space prune." I bit my lip.
She was going to yell at me. So I popped my ear buds in but I kept the sound low.
Sanya's POV
I looked up from my dinner as a loud and clearly angry voice penetrated the floor of our apartment.
"Aunt May?" My adorable brother asked.
"Yup." My mom sighs.
"Louder than you, Sanu." My dad winked at me. I rolled my eyes.
"That Peter must have done something." My grandmother starts in Bengali. She used to like Peter when he was younger but her feelings took a complete 180 since he hit puberty. She dislikes him even more now that we're dating. Also I don't like my grandma. Did I mention that?
"I am very sure he does some shady things. He might be a criminal." She continued in a hushed voice.
The thought that Peter could be a criminal and the fact that he was the opposite of a criminal made me laugh out loud. My father snorted into his water and passed it off as a cough. My mother's lips turned up.
"What?!" She asks accusingly. "You never know. Just because he's dating Sanya doesn't mean he's good. I maintain that he's not a good guy."
That made me mad. Call him shady but not a. Good. Guy?
"Excuse me?" I asked incredulously.
"Your boyfriend is a bad person." She says. Saying it in English would be bad enough but in Bengali it was so much worse.
"He is not a criminal. I'm more of a law breaker than he is. In fact, he's-" I broke off. I had been so incensed I was about to blurt out that he's Spider-Man. "One of the best and law abiding people I've ever known." I ended smoothly. I was a good liar.
She opened her mouth to reply, while adjusting her hijaab.
"Chup koro.(Shut up)" I said flat out. "I don't want to listen to you. I've finished my dinner. I'm going to my room. Or maybe Peter's." I said very quickly and in English so that she didn't understand. God, even being in the same room made me angry.
My parents weren't bothered about the going to Peter's room part. We've been doing that since we were 10.
I went to my room, banging the door shut. I was face to face with the Star Wars poster as I laid my head on my arm. Peter might die trying to protect the earth and you're calling him a criminal. I fumed.
I climbed out to the fire escape and climbed one floor below.
I peeked into Peter's room. He wasn't there. I let myself in. His window is never locked. For a superhero, he's really lax about security, I muse as I climb down. But it's convenient, I guess.
I sit there reading the Archie comics he has in his room till he comes in.
"I'm sorry, May but- Oh, HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!" He screams as he sees me sitting on his bed. I looked up, startled.
"WHAT?" Aunt May yells from out.
"Just stubbed my toe. Spider-Man gets stubs TOO!" He yells as he closes the door.
"What the hell, Sanya?" He asks. "Are you planning to give me a heart attack?"
I laughed. "Didn't your spider senses alert you?"
He looked balefully at me. "Spider Sense works only on danger. You're not dangerous. But man, the nips you give me......" he shook his head.
I blushed.
"So, um... What was May yelling at you for? We could hear it from our place." I asked.
He looked shifty.
"Oh...er....that....." he mumbled.
"Yes....Oh...er....that." I said definitely.
"I'm.. going to London."
"What!?" I shrieked.
"It's a more convenient, I guess you could say...spot. For the..war." He said the last word quietly.
I was struck dumb.
I found my voice after a minute or two.
"No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. London!? Peter, it's bad enough you're being beaten up everyday to get tougher. Itll be easier for everyone if you stay here. Goddamnit, London." I run my hands through my hair as I say the last part.
"Um. Yeah. I need to go." He says.
"Why? Peter, you don't owe humans a thing. So you are one. When have they ever been un-Flash towards you? When have they been good and decent and not asses!? Why are you doing this? Why are you setting yourself up for a suicide mission. I know I said I was more or less okay but....you'll die. I sound like a broken record." I finished.
"You do. But I appreciate it. I know people haven't always been nice to me."
"Understatement." I muttered.
"Lemme talk. But for every Flash, there's a You. For every thief, there's a May. For every paedophile, there's a Salman. For every jerk, there's a Ned. That's why I wanna protect the earth. Besides the fact that I live on it, of course." He ended with a smirk but a shy expression.
"Wow." I manage. I walk toward him, throw my arms around him and say "You are the best human being ever. I swear, no one deserves you."
"Oh...I'm not all that..." He says bashfully.
"Oh, you are."
I proceed to kiss the living daylights out of him."I am still mad bout the London thing, though." I murmur against his lips.
He huffs but his lips don't leave mine.
"Can't I enter this room once without you two making out like dogs in heat?" Aunt May's voice is heard.
