-ONE YEAR LATER-
A month ago, my boss promoted me. She told me that I had to move to Los Angeles, California to manage the branch there. That time, Allie and Nikki have moved to New York, leaving me all alone at our house in Norfolk. Luckily, Grant’s career was starting up. He recently got a call from his manager that Glee was gonna cast him as a Warbler, thus he needed to move to LA as well.
“Is that the last of our stuff?” I asked Grant as he set down another cargo box.
“I think so… Oh! Wait! I think I saw Parker’s dog food back there.” Grant reckoned.
“I’ll get it.”
I walked out of the door to the U-haul cart that was hitched to Grant’s car. As I walked, I reminisced about how we met and easily became the best of friends. I can’t believe time flew by this fast. Now, we’re both living under one roof. Talk about fate. Luck is definitely going my way, considering I’ve been in love with Grant eversince I bumped into him during our Winter vacation at Lake Tahoe and got caught by his gorgeous eyes. He may not be perfect-perfect, but he’s perfect for me. At this point, all I could ask for is for him to love me the same way I love him…
I got Parker’s food out, closed the container cart. I walked back inside the house and set the dog food down by the staircase.
“Ready to unpack, babe?” Grant asked as I plopped down on the couch, handing me a bottle of water.
“Give me five minutes.” I said, panting.
Today was the day we finally moved to LA. We spent the morning cleaning up the house we bought, the afternoon unloading our stuff from the U-haul cart, and we planned on unpacking all the boxes tonight.
“Go ahead. Take a breather.” Grant kissed me on the cheek and sent chills running up and down my spine.
That was one of my problems with Grant. He keeps on sending me mixed signals and getting me all confused. One minute he acts all sweet and the next he’s being all brotherly. But whichever way he acts, I’m still in love with him.
I took a deep breath, shook my head, and stood back up.
“Let’s do this!” I said.
We did spend the whole night unpacking all of our 17 cargo boxes and putting everything in their appropriate places. Eventually, we both fell asleep on the living room floor, being tired and all that.
I woke up the next day with our foreheads together. the rest of our faces centimeters apart, Grant’s arm draped around my waist, and Parker was lying down in between us. Parker was awake, she was staring at me then Grant, back and forth. I patted her head, and sat up carefully. Grant stirred a little but didn’t wake up.
I walked over to the staircase where Parker’s food and bowl were. I filled her food bowl up and called her.
“Parker.” I whistled. “Come here, girl.”
Parker walked to her food and chowed down. I ran up the stairs to my room just to freshen up and take a bath. After doing so, I went back down. Grant was nowhere to be found. I raided the fridge for anything to eat but found nothing.
“Disappointing, right?” I heard Grant say.
I turned around and saw him in fresh clothes. He probably took a bath as well.
“Good afternoon, babe.” He greeted.
“Afternoon?” I asked, confused.
“It’s already 12:30.”
“That explains the extreme hunger I’m feeling…”
“As it does mine. Why don’t we go out for lunch, seeing as we have no other option.”
