Chapter 3 - Royals
Charlie entered first, opening the door for me. As soon as I stepped in, I was surrounded with yellow light coming from a gigantic crystal chandelier from the ceiling. I was once again struck by the beauty of the room. It was painted white, with large bookshelves, and windows. Like every other room, this room too had paintings.
"Miss Adams." A strong, female voice said. My attention immediately went to the woman sitting behind the huge desk in the centre of the room.
Only one word could describe Queen Fiona Charleston.
Regal.
She was so regal. With her perfect, beautiful auburn hair, sharp light blue eyes, thin mouth, high cheekbones and flawless skin along with her trousers and shirt, made her look so darn regal. She looked like a queen. She must be a couple of inches shorter than me, but with her high heels, she stood an inch taller.
Her hair were tied in a flawless, elaborate bun, and diamond earrings peaked from underneath the few strands deliberately left lose.
Wow. She really is a queen.
"Uh..." I awkwardly started, blanking out completely. "...good evening...ma'am? Madam? Your Highness? Your Majesty?" I started stupidly, not knowing what to call her.
Shit.
Way to go with the first impression, Sky.
She narrowed her eyes slightly, and like every other person in the palace, she scanned me from head to toe, and a flash of disapproval crossed her eyes. "You may call me Your Majesty, Miss Adams." She said sharply. I winced. "Please take a seat."
I took one of the chairs in front of her glass desk. She sat on the office chair in front of me, and folded her hands in front of her and looked at me.
We sat in silence.
She then spoke up. "So I understand that you have..." She paused. "...a talent in art and painting?"
"Yes, ma....Your Majesty." I corrected myself.
She fingered some papers on the desk in front of her, looking at me critically. "And you think you are good enough to teach the Prince, my son?" She asked, a cold and mocking smile on her face.
Why does it seem like she's mocking me?
"Well, Your Majesty..."I said confidently. "If Cynthia Swan thinks I am good enough, then I am good enough."
She narrowed her eyes at me again. I stared right back.
If there was one thing my Dad taught me, it is that no one can make you feel inferior but yourself.
"Mrs. Swan seems to have great confidence in you." She said, after a pause. "Why would she send an...amateur instead of coming here herself?"
"Mrs. Swan has several important matters to attend to. She regrets that she wasn't able to come here personally." I ratted what I was asked to say.
She stayed silent, almost glaring at me. "If it weren't for the fact that you were recommended by one of the greatest people in the field, I would have never...." She stopped right there, eyeing me with an irritated look.
But she knew that I had understood.
"With all due respect, Your Majesty, if it weren't for the fact that this is great opportunity, and my mentor hadn't asked me to be here, I would have never dreamed of being here." I said firmly. "Your home is beautiful. I truly consider it an honour to be here. But I know I am good at what I do. One of the greatest artists of the century thinks that too. I look forward to having a great, and fruitful time, teaching the Prince, and hope that I will be treated with respect, dignity, and hospitality. I have come a long way to teach him...and I am tired. Its really late...I am sure you must be tired too. So if that will be all, I would like to be excused."
