You walked past the grim undertaker shop that stood gloomily on the street. The sign above it read 'Undertaker'. You somberly turned to enter and pushed open the black flaking door. The interior did nothing to improve the overall appearance of the shop and was filled with black silk lined coffins and the lighting was dim giving everything a depressing look. 'It only fits,' you thought as you walked further into the shop.
"Hello love, what business does someone as lovely as you have in an undertaker's shop," a voice said as a figure stepped out from a back room. Under happier instances you might've blushed, but this wasn't the time for shying away from compliments. You looked closer at the figure and saw that they were quite peculiar even for an undertaker. The man had very long grey hair and a shabby hat with a long piece of black cloth hanging form it. They wore a robe with sleeves that were too long for their arms and a gray sash.
"I'm looking for a coffin," you replied after a few seconds. "Ah, grim news I assume? Which of the ones you hold dearest is dead?" The undertaker asked. "It's my aunt sir, she came down with a terrible sickness and passed away a few days ago. I looked after her," you answered. "Then we must find nothing but the finest for your dear auntie," the undertaker said sweeping along the floor. "How's this?"
"Sir, I haven't got a lot of money, I can't afford anything too lavish," you said eyeing the coffin the undertaker was standing near. It was of an ornate wood with, what looked like, genuine silver handles and a fine spun black silk. "Maybe something more like that?" You said pointing to a simple wooden coffin lined with a thin layer of wool.
"But it's so simple love, why not something better?' The undertaker asked. "I already told you that I can't afford it, my family isn't rich and we just need something to bury her comfortably," you said insistently. "Fine, fine, what if I make you a deal?" "Huh? What kind of deal?" "I'll give you a nicer coffin for less, if you have a meal with me," the undertaker offered. "When would we have the meal sir?" You asked. "Whenever suits you best," the undertaker replied. "I think I can make a deal like that, but also what's your name?" "Just call me Undertaker. Now I'll make arrangements for the coffin and dinner, expect a letter from me with details." You shook hands and left the undertaker shop with an obscure feeling that you couldn't quite place.
Several days later a letter arrived in the post with the return adress of the Undertaker's shop. Enclosed was a simple letter inviting you to dinner in a few days. You started freaking out, it'd been a while since you'd gone to dinnner with a guy and you didn't know what to wear and where you would be eating. You told yourself to calm down and focus since you had a few days.
Soon it was the day of the dinner. You put on the dress you had seleceted for the evening and put on a happy face. The Undertaker had told you to meet at his shop so you hurried off in that direction. Soon you came to the grim shop with it's large sign and walked in. "Um, hello? It's me (y/n)," you said as you walked in noticing the shop was empty. "You look wonderful love," a familiar voice said form the shadows. You looked and saw the undertaker dressed in a nice suit ready for the evening.
" I must say the same for you, you look very different without the black robe," you replied. "Is it a good different?" the Undertaker asked with a sly smile. "I think so" you said smiling back at hime. "Then let's head off to dinner," he said and offered you his arm. You took it and began walking towards where you would be having dinner.
"We're here," the Undertaker said guesturing to the elaborate building in front of you. You looked and read the sign. "But, oh my, this is the most expensive resturant in all of London," you said in a shocked voice. "And you're getting one of the most expensive coffins in all of London, it seemed like a fair trade," the Undertaker replied.
After getting over the initial shock of the lavishness of the place you ended having a very enjoyable time with the Undertaker as odd as that may sound. You were leaving the resturant when you blurted out, "when can I see you again?" "Eager are we love? How about I'll send you a letter with the next dates plans, very soon I promise," he said. "Alright, sounds lovely." Then the Undertaker kissed you gently on the cheek saying, " I'll see you later." With that he walked off towards his shop and you left feeling giddy and touching gently at the spot where he'd kissed you.
